Actually believe the heavier snow will be more south than what models were predicting..No science behind my thinking but just by reading other people's obs and observing my area..

FWIW the p-type radar on weather underground isn't exactly accurate.  Folks in Smithville just sent me video of it pouring snow there and the radar indicates rain.

Yeah, it was showing ice in southeast KY earlier, and it had already went to all snow.

I hope Nashville drivers have some survival gear, blankets, and water and such in their cars because many people aren't going anywhere anytime soon.  Briley Parkway west of Dickerson Pk is a disaster.  Nearly whiteout conditions with snow blowing sidesways.

In the "I can't explain this" department. I went from having either snow or sleet since 5 am, and having big half dollar sized flakes 5 minutes ago to just plain rain.

6 Celsius in Madison, AL raining cats and dogs, but the moisture seems to be drying up in Mississippi. Local mets now say very little snow for HSV.

34.7 rain occasionally sleet pellets mixing in 8 miles east of plateau and 13 miles south of I-40.  Temp has been gradually falling since precip has moved in.  Consistent N and NNE winds 5 with gusts up to 10.

Congrats WarEagle!  My sister in London KY just sent me a few pics.  They are getting buried up there.

 

I think the downsloping is finally weakening some here.  Skies have darkened, and we've returned to rain.  Heavy rain has finally made it over the mountains.  Good sign!

Roads across town are either wet, slushy, or a weird half- frozen mixture of snow and slush. When snow begins in earnest and temperatures drop, road conditions are going to be far worse than Wednesday.
