eurojosh
Looks like a dryslot issue over the lower Potomac from 48-51...
MacintoshPro
NAM has the dryslot pushing up into NOVA at 51.. worth looking out for.
WeSuck
at 45 hours on the 500 mb vort, HUGE energy rounding the base of the ULL. Can't wait until that wraps in on the next few frames
DCAlexandria
NAM has the dryslot pushing up into NOVA at 51.. worth looking out for. Not really, its just not deathband, back to mods.
BTRWx
NAM has the dryslot pushing up into NOVA at 51.. worth looking out for. It might not impact totals that much with that much moisture. Good times!
MN Transplant
Not really, its just not deathband, back to mods. No, it is a dryslot. But we already have 24" on the ground, so we could probably deal.
Grothar of Herndon
NAM has the dryslot pushing up into NOVA at 51.. worth looking out for. I don't think that is an problem, but if it does happen 2' on the ground so will give me time to shovel before the backend starts. Like eye of a hurricane. WeSuck
At hour 54, look at that energy wrapping in. The band is likely to come back trhough DC on the pivot
North Balti Zen
For those reading along from Balt area north - nothing to worry about on this run, by the way.
WxUSAF
No, it is a dryslot. But we already have 24" on the ground, so we could probably deal. USA_RH_700mb_054.gif And the NAM really isn't worth the analysis of that. Don't think a dry slot it is going to get into se pa.
87storms
The whole storm looks a bit squashed vs the 06z NAM, which is probably good for DC, not as good for some of the PA/NJ places that scored overnight. But, we'll see. That seems to be one big question mark still is how far north does this system go. It seems VA and MD are starting to lock in but still too many wobbles going on for the fringes. 87storms
No, it is a dryslot. But we already have 24" on the ground, so we could probably deal. USA_RH_700mb_054.gif That seems like a great look for those on the northern fringe. Dry slots are like sleet here. The way of life and something the cities seem to flirt with during every storm. WeSuck
Hour 57 the pivot begins. Look at that 500 mb plot!!! 3 closed contours and energy fully wrapping in now!
H2O
The vort pass is still fantasic. Plenty of qpf on this run. over 2" in many locations

Expat
Looking at airtemp from 06z to 12z and temps are in the low to mid 20s, so when we get that heavy snow, expect some good ratios!
WeSuck
Speechless at the 500 mb plot. DC gets rocked this run. Hour 60 full pivot in action. IT's Happening folks.
H2O
The NAM is very cold at 2m. even Wes looks good unless there is a raging warm nose
ravensrule
Sold. Lock it up. We even get some more after that at 66.
mitchnick
Nam is great, but the NAM won't nail the heaviest bands beyond 48 hours and that's what we're talking about.
87storms
Gorgeous is the only word. NAM 500.PNG Was looking at 500 maps for this the other day and '96 seemed to me to be a closer comparison than other big storms. Like a slightly further south and maybe not as cold '96, but others may see it differently.
MN Transplant
This is probably the most worrisome temp panel on the NAM, but it is transient.
