Summer Interior NW Burbs & Hudson Valley - 2016

We have to pay the town forester ($600) per tree for the permit but neighbors can contest them if they feel there will be any sort of negative effect on them. That can be something as small as losing shade during the summer and that neighbor has no AC so losing that shade will have a significant negative effect on their lives. Then after the permit is approved you can only use a licensed tree removal company therefore you will pay an exorbitant rate to have the work done. The other problem is that neighbor will not allow any access to his property so the cost is nearly triple what it would be if the tree guy could use a cherry picker truck parked in that driveway. One tree will cost over $6k!

^^^ this is insane..

I just fall trees whenever I want

Sure did.  Got a bunch of yardwork done, made time to get out and do some mt biking and really enjoy this weather the next few days.  I won't even care if it rains a bit, just want to be outside.

I may have figured out a way around finding a job, my wife and I are starting a business :)  Fingers crossed I can get it together and make a living out of it soon.

All the best for your new business!

It's always painful this time of year to watch heights steadily rising across the continent on long-range GFS loops. Seems like spring will be off to a particularly vigorous start this season, as well.

Normally at the end of winter, I can find a way of exploiting the calendar to make things not seem so bad, but man... here we are looking down the barrel of our first sustained torch and we still have almost four months of lengthening daylight hours left, to say nothing of declining average temps or the autumn equinox.

This has been by far the worst winter I've ever experienced in my 20 yrs of living in O.C. The ski areas really took a hit this year. Bring on the warmth please

I received 21 inches this season which is pathetic, 12 from the blizzard yet better than most in the HV, so my third worst winter in 40 plus years up here.

2001/02 and 1997/98 were actually worse for me but not by much. There's really nothing good to say about this winter. No sustained cold, no sustained snow pack, (I know north of 84 virtually no snow pack) one storm and record warmth. It's like winter never happened this year.

I didn't keep snowfall records then, although I do remember that was a pretty snow starved season. The one difference was it was not nearly as mild as this winter. This December especially was my worst nightmare.

I remember December 88 being cold and dry with major storm suppression. A lot of OTS. January through March had a lot of cutters, typical of the La Nina pattern.

Yea I don't think I've broken 10" and I'm not sure I will based on long range models could be all time futility from here up to Albany and even Canadian border. Funny thing mont tremblant and le massif in Quebec are really cashing in lately. Massif has had 50" in last week tremblant about 3ft.

As this new business of mine comes together I will need next winter to be at least a decent one so don't write it off just yet please  :icecream:

Now that it seems to be gelling I can let the cat out of the proverbial bag I guess.  My wife and I are starting an independent sales rep agency for bike and snowsports products with a territory from the I84 corridor in the south, the Catskills/Dacks in the west to either I91 (VT) or I93 in NH in the east depending on what the companies want.  I expect to do somewhere around 50k miles per year on the road and hope to be able to ride and ski in a bunch of cool places with people that are financially supporting my (and my familys) habits by ordering lots of product.
