ShawnEastTN
Rockwood Mountain (Plateau) Between Harriman and Crossville I-40.... Wouldn't want to be going up the plateau today on I-40.
tnweathernut
Our light to moderate snows have stopped for now. Larger area of precipitation is pushing through the Knoxville area now, but I have concerns there AND here for something other than snow. I hope the rates can sufficiently cool the column so you guys back west toward Knoxville can stay snow/sleet instead of zr.
1234snow
14z HRRR has a max of 6 just south of KTRI. Probably overdoing it by just a touch.
Runman292
Very small pieces of sleet is mixing in with the Big flakes near Halls, but it's still mostly snow.
dwagner88
Radar depiction out of htx says this band may fall as snow. I'm skeptical since we haven't had any yet, but perhaps some wetbulbing has occurred in the upper levels. GFS says 2-3 inches if it's all snow. Blue Ridge
The main band is surging eastward at a good clip. Doesn't seem to be losing any muster. If this is all snow, we're in for a good thump.

Front end definitely seemed to over perform here.

ladyjmayo
Nice fat flakes coming down at a good clip in Kingston right now. Sleet was mixing in earlier, but it seems to be all snow now. There is about 1/2 inch on the ground and temps holding steady at 25. The road in front of my house is snow-covered, even the one lane that they brined yesterday. Stovepipe
I went to a steady moderate sleet under the bright band then changed over to a moderate snow with HUGE flakes. Seriously quarters and half dollars at the moment.

Stovepipe
Just ripping in west Knoxville. Spots on the road that cleared from traffic earlier got insta-covered once the fatties started dropping. If we can keep this up we will get some nice accums. Hopefully no "tappering off" anytime soon!

Blue Ridge
Jealous............. but enjoy! I hope it over-performs further east in addition to the Knoxville area staying mostly SNOW. Check out the surge of 30-35 DBZ returns heading toward the Tri-Cities. Will be interesting to see if we see any sleet on the front side. KTRI was up to 23 at the top of the hour. ShawnEastTN
Under 25 to 30 dbz here with giant down feathers falling at an impressive rate. I would say rate is pushing 1" and hour... Too bad only maybe 2 hours left of the main band for me. Think I'll hit 2-3"
Jed33
Snowing moderately to heavy at times here in Morristown. Up to about 2.25 inches now.
dwagner88
Absolutely insane snow squall in Cleveland right now. Palm sized flakes, near zero visibility. Went from IP/ZR to huge flakes very fast. Roads are awful.
JayCee
The micro climates of east TN are fascinating in the winter. I'm at 24.4 about 6 miles east northeast of Sevierville. I've had heavy sleet with snow mixture for the last hour, and now just switched to heavy snow. While to my south in Pigeon Forge, a friend called and said they were having freezing rain. At this point...just glad to be missing the rain and back to snow. Quick edit...snow really pouring now about 10 minutes before noon. Temp holding at 24 here. It's a winter wonder land.
