dustincollins
ILN just upgraded WRHW to a warning ***FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST**** A WEENIE RADAR HALLUCINATION WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED. SPOTTERS HAVE CONFIRMED TWO HALLUCINATIONS, (see below), AS THE LARGE WINTERSTORM EJECTS NORTHEAST FROM THE GULF COAST STATES. HALLUCINATIONS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE AND WORSEN NOW THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT AS A SHARP EDGED SNOW SHIELD WITH IMPRESSIVE DBZ BEGINS TO APPROACH THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY. THE RECENT CRAPTASTIC WINTER CONDITIONS AND FREQUENT STORM MISSES ARE HELPING TO FUEL CURRENT AND LIKELY ADDITIONAL HALLUCINATIONS. PLEASE STAY TUNED AND LISTEN TO NOAA WEATHER OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA FOR UPDATES ************************************************************************** Haha, awesome. I suffer from WRH frequently. ukrocks
Lexington got two 12+ inch snow events last winter. I live 70 miles west of there. Looking at Louisville, I think we have the potential to get 5-9 inches. I hope the SREF is right as the average is 10.4 between the spreads. CapitalKid
Did Lexington have a 12"+ event last winter? Yep. We had one. The February one was around 10 inches. The March one was 17+ http://www.kentucky.com/news/local/counties/fayette-county/article44559252.html
psumet
Winter Storm Warning here tomorrow. I have seen forecasts for my to get as little as 3-6 inches of snow and as much 8-14 inches of snow. Somebody will bust hard. That's the problem. Usually these northern precip cutoffs have a much tighter gradient than what is modeled. We're both going to be on a 25 mile cutoff between very little and 1"+ QPF. The fact that it's right over the metro is not helping! It's been a long time since I've seen this kind of spread and lack of consistency less than 24 hours out. SREF plumes range from 0" to 30"+ at CVG with no hints of clustering. No forecast created at this point will have any confidence with it. It's going to come down to making potentially big adjustments to the forecast as the snow moves in on radar tomorrow.
