Damage In Tolland
So if I'm following correctly not having been in the loop the last 36 hours that it's mild thru day 10 with a Chance of some type of storm around the 26th?

ORH_wxman
Def may have to watch Feb 20 N of pike....probably more CNE/NNE though. Gotta like the look fo things though Feb 25 and beyond.

eduggs
I like that period. DC pulling 4-6" and some ice today.....happy for them. Nice steal. I just shake my head and marvel. I haven't had a storm like they are having today in one full year. At 1500ft elevation. And certainly not daytime, weekend/holiday snow that you can actually enjoy. powderfreak
I like that period. DC pulling 4-6" and some ice today.....happy for them. Nice steal. That's awesome. I'd love to grab a 4-6" storm this season. Crossing my fingers.
eduggs
That's awesome. I'd love to grab a 4-6" storm this season. Crossing my fingers. Worst stretch for the mid HV, upper HV, and parts of VT since record keeping began. That just means the next 6" storm is going to make me really really happy. I've been honestly enjoying the 45 minutes of lake enhanced upslope we've been occasionally getting. Snow is always fun. Even now as I see flurries start to fall out my window, it brings a smile to my face. No matter that it will all be washed away.
eduggs
The GFS and ensembles looks more like a NNY, NNE deal for the 20th. Last night's CMC looked like rain for all. The longwave pattern is pretty zonal in this period. Gonna need that s/w to dig south.
ORH_wxman
GFS and GGEM at 12z look pretty decent for CNE/NNE...marginal maybe for places like N ORH county and N Berks. May have to watch it there. But for most of SNE, I think Feb 24-25 is probably the first period to really focus on for a potential winter threat. I'd expect several more chances after that based on the longwave pattern as well.

CoastalWx
Op run overall looked good. Remember, op runs sometimes hold clues into the pattern potential....don't take it verbatim.

Ginx snewx
You do this every year. As soon as it's close to your ski trip all you talk about is NNE and snow there.. And seem to forget where you livesorry, we ski ,2 months ago I didn't know if I would walk, we excited. Looks better and better for CNE

May have to watch it there. I keep thinking one of these has to deliver a widespread 3"+ event for NNE... haha. GFS has a nice 24 hour burst of QPF for that event. powderfreak
sorry, we ski ,2 months ago I didn't know if I would walk, we excited. Looks better and better for CNE Nice man. Congrats on getting cleared to ski... that really is awesome. Regardless if the natural snow works out (something has to fall though at some point), the snowmaking bases are deep and its good to go. Even a little snow will make your trip awesome. I personally love these times before you or Ryan or anyone goes skiing in NNE...nothing drives DIT crazy more than SNE'ers talking or focusing on NNE . It really is like nails on a chalkboard for him for some reason.
Ginx snewx
I am now realizing again to only seriously look at the Euro going forward. The rest are JVs, the upgrade has been even better. Save a horse.

Typhoon Tip
Def may have to watch Feb 20 N of pike....probably more CNE/NNE though. Gotta like the look fo things though Feb 25 and beyond. Yeah I was just noticing this thing, Will -- has that flat but potent wave look ... just the sort of thing that sneaks by folks' awareness' because it doesn't come along with the usual bells-and-whistles presentation in the flow. The 00z Euro ... sure, could be proven to be over down, but just using the 850 mb temperature contour evolution together with the 700 and 850 mb RH, and the QPF layout ... altogether suggests is snows. And, given to the orientation of the wave in the deep layer that's probably some meso type organization going on, too. Then we wait for what could be interesting D7 -15... I'm still on -board for an active stormy period breaking out. It doesn't help much for determinism here - no. But, I'm liking the dishware on the table-set. That's a whopper MJO wave propagating through phase 7 and the PNA that is taking place in tandem is so massive that it is drilling the EPO negative as of last night. Whether this means a seasonal snowfall deficit correction taking place all in a single event (06z/12z oper. GFS blend), or just buckshot recovery ... I'd don't think this winter is done in any hurry looking down the barrel of these indicators.

I think SNE/ NNE should be in seperate threads because many times one region or the other is left out.. And there's a ski thread

And man for folks that love weather, you can't understand people focusing on areas where they don't live? We remember this when you are looking for marathon weather for an area you don't live in. That's similar to someone going skiing or traveling and curious about the weather where they are going.
