burrel2
HRR and RAP are keeping a band of moderate precip together through the western upstate tomorrow afternoon. Both of them drop a swath of .10 to .20 of liquid. Maybe we could manage a dusting to an inch? Edit: NAM now has over .10 inch as well for tomorrow afternoon. Hammer
It is showing some building west of me... but my temp / dew point (25/15) are not promising at this time... Kids (and dad) are bummed...
FallsLake
Virga showing on radar between Clt and Sandhills. The important thing are the clouds quickly overspreading the state. Temps may have a hard time even getting above freezing if we do not see much sun. Also road surfaces will stay much colder. http://www.weather.gov/satellite

Spidyr2k
State sprayed brine on 87S yesterday. I was a little surprised by that. Maybe it's a good thing.

Hvward
Getting hammered here in downtown Asheville with snow. Sticking to roads and everything else. Flow looks stout too, 2" isnt out of the question here. Dangerous day ahead in Asheville I fear with kids already at school in Buncombe Co. DopplerWx
looking forward to this afternoon, i think we have a good shot at a dusting depending on how well the line of snow showers holds together.
No snow for you
HRRR is interesting. It looks like Rain to Snow for the upstate. I don't see it with temps currently at 28 but dp's at 14. That is a heck of a wet bulb.
EmersonGA
One of our superintendents from Ellijay called and said his yard is covered already. My yard is the frozen tundra. We've been above freezing for about 30 minutes since Sunday evening.

I would have thought much of this would be virga given the dry column.
Snowless in Carrollton
it's a bit surprising to hear that snow is reaching the ground already. According to radar its snowing here but nothing reaching the ground.Edit: getting some sleet pellets and now some light freezing rain

calculus1
Some flakes are reaching the ground here in Rutherford as the local radar loop looks great. Congrats! Radar shows flakes overhead here too, but there's no ground truth as of yet. Either way this is pretty amazing, because precipitation doesn't usually hold together as it comes across the mountains from the due west for either of us. I would have thought much of this would be virga given the dry column. One thing I noticed about this system is that the 850mb moisture is coming in first so there is no super dry layer there to overcome once the deeper moisture arrives. I was wondering if that would reduce the virga.
triadwx
Currently sitting at a Starbucks in High Point and the clouds are rolling in. It was sunny about 20 minutes ago. Definitely cold enough. Hopefully we can get a good little snow before the big storm.
Lookout
12z nam is showing a small area of 0.40 liquid around ellijay to maybe down close to dawsonville. Not bad at all..It should be noted though the nam has been warmer at 850mb than the gfs for several runs now so not sure all of it is snow. Those are some pretty heavy returns to the west..if that holds together and remains snow, could be quite a pretty scene later.
calculus1
Projected composite reflectivity on the 12Z NAM shows pretty heavy returns in the lee of the Apps for later today. Interestingly enough though, if you switch to the version that shows rain/snow, nothing is shown at all (in NC):
VanillaDream
Starting to get some returns popping on radar in West GA from about I-20 North. Still in the upper 20s here at my locale. 29/14.
