Confirmed tornado touchdown in Columbia, sc. Took some power lines down with it

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IS1F7qXISmI

Sweet! Thanks for posting this   :D  The video was taken in front of Janpak where I used to work. It's just before the Farmers Market on 321

I was in the path in Forest Acres. Saw no damage, but the weather was absolutely terrible with blinding rains and very strong winds.

That was the wildest thing ever in a car    I was on Fish Hatchery before the roundabout at #6 and it was raining hard. Went threw the roundabout heading toward the light before Pelion at #302 and the rain lessened up some. As I looked up, the cloud base was lowering into a funnel not 25 yards from me just to my left. My suv whipped to the right as a huge gust of wind hit it broadside and I had no more corrected it when another huge gust hit it from the other side. After correcting my suv the bottom fell out and I couldn't see the front of my vehicle it was raining so hard. The rest of the way to the light I just kept repeating to myself....holy sh*t! that really just happened     I got to Pelion Elementary and the ebs broke in on the radio with the tornado warning. That was crazy

People all over Mississippi were diving for cover most of the day:o  I try to ease away from work when I can. Even though football season is over, in Alabama recruiting season is just as big. I'm sure all the message boards are still being flooded. :D  I think more may post from now through April.

I'm sure they were   ;)   We would love to have more peeps from AL,MS,LA   :D

Wow sounds like some RFD somewhere in there, what a crazy system. Whats that rule? You get a tornado in winter & 4 days later you will see snow or something :) ha.

There have been two preliminary tornado reports generally south of Jackson MS, from this cell (this picture is several minutes after that tornado report icon west of Magee)

Folks in central and especially eastern NC need to pay attention to the chances of a squall line around dawn that could be accompanied by some pretty good wind, every once in a while these type of setups produce widespread wind reports well into the 50-60's and maybe even a few into the 70's...even if not widespread I wouldnt be surprised to see several damage reports.

From RDU

THE
WINTER STORM WARNING LIKELY TO BE CANCELLED EARLY(EXPIRES AT 7AM).
ATTENTION WILL QUICKLY TURN FROM FREEZING RAIN ACROSS THE NORTHWEST
PIEDMONT TO THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS ACROSS EASTERN
NC BY AROUND DAYBREAK AS NEGATIVE TILTED MID/UPPER WAVE AND
ATTENDANT DEEPENING SFC LOW APPROACH THE AREA FROM THE
WEST/SOUTHWEST. STRONG/DEEP ASCENT WITH IN THE RIGHT REAR QUADRANT
OF THE UPPER JET STREAK AND ALONG THE NOSE OF A POWERFUL 60-70KT LLJ
WILL SUPPORT A CONVECTIVE LINE OF HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A
FEW THUNDERSTORMS. AS THE LINE ENCOUNTERS THE BETTER INSTABILITY IN
THE EAST(MUCAPE 200-500 J/KG...STRONG TO SEVERE WIND GUST WILL BE
POSSIBLE...ALONG WITH AN ISOLATED TORNADO POSSIBLE.

From SPC

..ERN NC/SERN VA...
MEAGER BUOYANCY AND VERY WEAK INSTABILITY ARE ANTICIPATED IN THE
PRE-FRONTAL WARM SECTOR OWING TO A MODIFIED CONTINENTAL AIR MASS
CURRENTLY IN PLACE OFF THE S ATLANTIC COAST AND NEAR-MOIST ADIABATIC
TROPOSPHERIC LAPSE RATES ON TUE MORNING. DESPITE THE POOR
THERMODYNAMIC SETUP...AN INTENSE SLY LLJ /AOA 70 KT AT 850 MB/ WILL
LIKELY BE PRESENT ALONG WITH STRONG FORCING FOR ASCENT IMMEDIATELY
AHEAD OF THE LEAD SHORTWAVE TROUGH.
THIS SHOULD SUPPORT RISKS FOR
LOCALIZED DAMAGING WINDS AND A BRIEF TORNADO PRIOR TO THE FRONT
SHIFTING OFFSHORE BY EARLY AFTERNOON.
