Brick Tamland
Mike Maze just said on Fcaebook the storms are now forming more of a line which would lead to more of a straight-line wind threat.

kvegas-wx
Cant find any damage reports for Oxford so I guess it was just radar indicated. Whatever it was looked to cross I85 between Oxford and Butner.
FLweather
Cant find any damage reports for Oxford so I guess it was just radar indicated. Whatever it was looked to cross I85 between Oxford and Butner. I don't live in Roxboro no more. But I still keep up through FB. Alot of lightning and dime to quarter size hail. From South Boston around Alton Va to Roxboro to Allensville.
NWNC2015
Per Skype conference call north-west NC will be added to the severe thunderstorm watch with warnings likely tonight.
FLweather
I see why the storms are approaching from the north. There is a backdoor cf and Lee side Trough Watch from Ne GA to Charlotte fill in the next couple hours. Already happening now via. They hard to predict but when you get storms traveling south from VA to NC in a backdoor position they get violent over the Piedmont
NWNC2015
Don't expect large hail or tornado threat from Boone to Mount Airy, points south, and including western Piedmont.....mostly a wind driven rain threat for western and central NC.
NWNC2015
SPC silly with 5% tornado probs here....doesn't even warrant a 2%. Lol.

downeastnc
Rainfall the big issue so far here, training as well, we could see 3-4" in places if the stuff up over VA doesnt fizz out.....
NWNC2015
I just got included in that big warning. There is a reason why many don't take the warnings seriously around here. Nowhere near will an area that big see severe criteria winds. The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...Yadkin County in North Carolina...Surry County in North Carolina...Wilkes County in North Carolina...Stokes County in North Carolina...Watauga County in North Carolina...Alleghany County in North Carolina...Ashe County in North Carolina...eastern Wythe County in Virginia...Carroll County in Virginia...southwestern Patrick County in Virginia...southwestern Pulaski County in Virginia...Grayson County in Virginia...the city of Galax in Virginia... FLweather
You maybe right or wrong but there is alot of lift between the mountains and Piedmont where the whole line is trying to merge with the Lee side NWNC
Solak
Not bad for an outflow boundary... they issued a SWS for it... airport reported N@29 gusting to 45. Temp dropped from 81-73.
mjwise
This line is juiced. Have been sitting in the cold pool rains up here in Blacksburg for well over an hour now and we are still getting lightning strikes.

downeastnc
Haven't heard one clap of thunder. I thought it was supposed to be unstable? Lots of elevated stuff here, nothing like last night though.
NWNC2015
Famous lee skip...something the SPC does not handle well but should have expected with storms coming from VA. Some severe potential may develop coming into the Iredell County area.
NWNC2015
Sprinkles with light rain at times in the meat of the line in Elkin. Breezy. Some lightning flashes but very soft thunder. Do not expect light/mod rain after the initial line probably won't reach the ground given how light it is now.
NWNC2015
Per Skype convo with NWS Blacksburg big warning will be canceled for all the counties that were included. Storms have weakened below severe limits with some lee side skipping involved. Radar did not support severe criteria even in southern VA. ...the storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severelimits... and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire. However gusty windsand heavy rain are still possible with these thunderstorms.
