janetjanet998
What a poorly modeled slopfest from STL THE EVENT DIDN'T QUITE UNFOLD AS WE EXPECTED. INSTEAD OF THE SHORTWAVE ENERGY COALESCING INTO ONE WAVE AND CLOSING OFF TO OUR NORTHEAST, IT STAYED SEPARATED IN TWO VERY DISTINCTIVE VORTICITY MAXIMA. wonder if the last part will surprise
Geos
Plus, you'd get to use the Geos snow measuring system as well. Not sold in stores. ruler.jpg Just kidding, Geos. It's funny, because last week I ordered a special ruler that breaks down to 1/10th's instead of the standard^

Hoosier
Ripped for the past 90 minutes or so. Easily an inch on non-paved surfaces with a light coating on the pavement.

michsnowfreak
It's funny, because last week I ordered a special ruler that breaks down to 1/10th's instead of the standard^ 20160109_165937.jpg I have 4 of these from the nws, 2 of them I don't even use lol. 3 are the nws "snow sabers" one is just flimsy metal. Geos
1.2" as of now. 3" sounds reasonable. Yeah it is a weird storm. @SnowFreak - The one I got is 18", steel. It's not flimsy at all. 2-3mm thick If I'm measuring snow at night, I can read it a little easier now.

Chambana
Dry air moving Into the system, cutting accumulations down to less than 2" for east central Illinois. The frustration continues. This winter off to a worse start than that piece of work 11-12.
Frog Town
Definitely getting excited about the latest trends for the NW OH/SE MI area. Don't want to get my hopes up, but it's been par for the course this winter. It's good to be hear btw. I feel like i've entered an AA meeting , but for weather nuts. Good to be hear! Northern_IN_Wx
Valparaiso still reporting rain.Yeah we (IWX) are going to bust horribly in our NW IN and SW Lower MI counties. Disjointed nature the issue.
cyclone77
Snow's about to shut down as back edge is almost here. Looks like we'll finish right around, or just under an inch. LSRs were pretty low even with the dry snow due to flake size. Should have some staying power. Nice to see it looking white again out there. Geos
2.1" in Northbrook, dry slot but still snowing Was just wondering if it was snowing in that dry pocket. That pocket to the SW looks decent and it's colder out that way. 31.8° here.

Geos
Went to light snow for a short time, but now back to moderate. Back edge band should be pretty good with temps near 30°. It's even snowing in Green Bay tonight.

Boogieman
What is this all about? I'm near Flint and I've seen forecasts from 1/2" of rain, to a dusting, to 6". It's like everyone is simply guessing as far as the forecasts go now. We've been getting teased by the edge of the rain for three hours now, temp is still 43°. Hard to guess what is going to fall at this point.

Chicago WX
Tough forecast, no doubt...but a pretty good bust for IKK. WWA issued for 3-6" turned into a glorified car topper. But the 30 minutes of good snow was cool. I do wonder how LAF will fare with this second piece. IND has 2-4" in the advisory text for them. Currently it's 41˚/40˚ at the airport there. HillsdaleMIWeather
NWS IND expanded their WWA eastward, calling for 2-4" of snow. With current trends of 2-4 seeming viable and with the wind/expected Flash Freeze (which not many people know about), IWX might as well.
