Powerball
Winter Weather Advisories are being issued in the MO Bootheel / Evansville and around Indianapolis, in anticipation of the second deformation axis. Chicago WX
Good to hear. Getting more flakes here in the last few mins...I'd say almost a 50/50 mix. Nice. Hope you salvage something decent. Still torching and all liquid here. Looking at radar, and considering the entrenched warmth locally, good chance I don't see a flake with this event. Michigander
LOT trimming back a bit: LATEST GUIDANCE SUGGESTS THIS WILL OCCUR SLOWER THANORIGINALLY ANTICIPATED. THIS WILL BE PROBLEMATIC FOR SNOWACCUMULATING ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST INDIANA...ESPECIALLYBEFORE 00Z THIS EVENING AND SOME MODELS HOLD ON TO TEMPERATURESBOTH NEAR THE SURFACE AND ALOFT WHICH WOULD SUGGEST RAIN HOLDINGON UNTIL 03-04Z THIS EVENING OVER NORTHWEST INDIANA. WITH A SLOWERTRANSITION TO SNOW...MUCH OF THE QPF MAY NOW FALL AS RAIN WHICHHAS CUT BACK QUITE A BIT ON SNOW TOTALS FOR NORTHWEST INDIANA.WITH THIS IN MIND HAVE DOWNGRADED THE WINTER STORM WARNING FORLAKE AND PORTER COUNTIES IN INDIANA AND REPLACED IT WITH A WINTERWEATHER ADVISORY. FARTHER WEST IN ILLINOIS UNDER SLIGHTLY COLDERAIR AND WITH THE HELP OF DYNAMIC COOLING FROM AN AREA OFMODERATELY STRONG F-GEN SUPERIMPOSED UNDER AN AREA OF STEEP MID-UPPER LEVEL LAPSE RATES...EXPECT MOST AREAS WEST OF THE I- 57CORRIDOR WILL TRANSITION TO SNOW BY AROUND 21Z...AND BY 00ZTHROUGH THE STATE LINE. WHILE MOST OF THE ADVISORY AREA IS LARGELYON TRACK...DID TRIM BACK SNOW TOTALS SLIGHTLY NOW CALLING FOR 2 TO5 INCHES. AS TEMPS AND DEW POINTS FALL BELOW FREEZINGOVERNIGHT...AND WINDS INCREASE WITH GUSTS INTO THE 30 TO 35 MPHRANGE...BLOWING SNOW STILL SEEMS REASONABLE FOR A LARGE PORTION OFTHE FORECAST AREA.
