snowlover91
here we go, maybe a tick colder at 99? I'm at 84 how does the vort look? Stronger and further south or about the same?
Wow
GFS is gonna go bonkers with the storm. Starting to phase in more energy by 102.
DopplerWx
looking good at 105, stronger.
Wow
The 50/50 low is consolidated which is going to let the HP nose in ahead of it. Love the setup.

snowlover91
looking real good at 117, light snow in w nc, nga. I noticed the PNA ridge is a little sharper this run too which helps our little system dig more.
Cheeznado
Will I have egg on my face with this one? The GFS says yes. I will take some humble pie in exchange for snow- but still want to see the Doc come on board..... EDIT: GFS has a 1-2" event from AL to north GA- fast movement is on reason amounts are kept down. Still, with cold air following this could be a mess on the roads if this comes to pass.
griteater
Why stop at one, let's go for 4 in a row like the control run
DopplerWx
temp issues still, but great trends. north nc and north ga look good for snow at the first look.

Wow
That very weak low over New England messes with the phase and doesn't quite get it going. It's very close, a little more separation and boom. I'll bet you several ensemble members are going to be big.

If that isn't there or is a little more separated from this storm, it would likely be a much bigger deal on the 12z.
SN_Lover
Good step in the right direction for snow lovers. Only critique would be the low to the north near the lakes. The low is blocking the cold arctic air, which results in a more mixed bag or rain event for Charlotte at least.

If that isn't there or is a little more separated from this storm, it would likely be a much bigger deal on the 12z. It's trending weaker with the lobe and more consolidated with the first storm over the NE, which will allow HP to build in faster ahead of our storm. Brick Tamland
QPF is also very light, less than .25 for NC on Sunday. That could just as well increase just like it has so many times since the fall when we have had precip.
snowlover91
Nice look for central and western NC. Boundary layer temps may be an issue but if the storm gets stronger it should help pull the cold in a little quicker to the surface.

Agreed, I was feeling 50/50 on this Sunday system, but if Dr. No goes all in on this today, I'll be ready to dive right in with it.
Wow
Not to be forgotten, but there's the next s/w that may turn out to be just as big of a player as well by Jan 18-
snowlover91
wow at 153 gfs bringing another small system. snow n ga western nc again Noticed this as well, the ridge out west is sharper and allows the energy to dig a little more.

snowlover91
GFS has around 1" of snow accumulating in NC and up to 2" in parts of northern GA and AL. Now we need to see the Canadian and Euro follow the trend.
Wow
Positively tilted PV's over the NE are the best. Cold goes nowhere.
wncsnow
The 17th setup reminds me of late January 2014 where most of SE had a nice little snow but no huge amounts. Temperatures arent as cold this time though
