griteater
They had some storms like this in the '83 and '98 big ninos. Warm gulf lows, but just cold enough up top for snow been a snowy day on mt mitchell today....which was a little unexpected i guess per gsp's forecast for the summit...which was rain with a high near 40. Freezing levels were projected by models to be around 7500 to 8000 feet but It's been stuck at around 30/31 all day and it's getting hammered right now per gsp radar. magpiemaniac
I'm old enough to remember when the chance to see light flurries was considered a miserable failure of a winter. Now it's a victory that deserves an entire thread.
SnowNiner
Anybody having "script" computer issues with the site? It's really killing my computer lately and slowing it down everytime I get on. Get a message that a script failed. I continue or stop it, it still slows down the desktop. Anybody have this issue?

Solak
Totally banter for the Raleigh area folks ... I wonder what becomes of WRAL? WNCN to switch to CBS affiliation Feb. 29RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – WNCN is moving its network affiliate to CBS, the station announced Friday. Beginning Feb. 29, WNCN-TV will switch from an NBC affiliate to a CBS and deliver hit CBS programming such as The Big Bang Theory, the NCIS series, The Good Wife and Supergirl. CBS also carries popular sports programming including the NFL, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and the Masters. The local CBS affiliate was previously on Capitol Broadcasting’s WRAL-TV. Upon the date of the switch, Media General, one of the largest CBS-affiliated station groups in the U.S., will own or operate 23 CBS affiliated television stations. http://wncn.com/2016/01/15/wncn-to-switch-to-cbs-affiliation-feb-29/
Solak
Looks like it's a flip... Raleigh, N.C. — After a 30-year partnership with CBS, WRAL plans to change its network affiliation at the end of February. WRAL will become an NBC affiliate on Feb. 29. "This was not an easy decision. It came down to the question, ‘What network do we believe is best positioned for the future of local broadcasting?’ It is clear to us that NBC understands the value that local affiliates bring to the entire network relationship," Jim Goodmon, president and chief executive of Capitol Broadcasting Co., WRAL's parent company, said in a statement. "We’re local broadcasters first. As the industry continues to change, we believe this switch to NBC positions us well for the future." http://www.wral.com/wral-shifting-affiliation-to-nbc/15239067/

tazaroo
The first time I heard about the strong El Nino I was worried about it. But then several meteorologists started to talk good about how the second half of winter should be I hope they're right because so far I hate strong El Ninos. I dunno CR ,but right now it looks like we're scoreless. 2/10 and beyond is the 2nd half. Eerily like last year in many respects.
magpiemaniac
Looks like around the 28th we chasing another out in fantasy land. We ALWAYS have a fantasy 10-14 day storm for people to analyze and discuss. Then it goes poof and we're on to the next one. Eventually, we'll drop the term "winter" and we'll just cycle through three seasons.
