jshetley
First call is 12-18" north of I-85, sleet/rain south of I-85 in SC!!! My first call would be for 18-20 inches of snow in upstate SC, except for maybe 1-2 inches in Greenville County.

Cold Rain
^ It really doesn't get any more perfect than that (other than changing 384 to 0).

Jet Stream Rider
Thats a pretty good look. Now we just need the high to trend stronger and suppress the hell out of that low. At that point the low could be stronger as well. Its a given the low will eventually trend north, and that should be about perfect.
Bevo
I did a primitive cross section (like, cave drawing primitive) of this past event. Location: Lyman, SC (2 miles north of Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County) Date: January 23, 2016 The IP/ZR measurement is approximate, and obviously affected the initial snow accum. Contrary to many of the "busted" forecast posts, the I-85 Corridor call was excellent (particularly for the northern zone). NWS and local mets deserve some kudos here. wncsnow
I had a similar cross-section here in Danville, VA but with 5 inches of snow then 1-2 inches of sleet and 1-2 inches of snow on top of that...

mackerel_sky
The pancake / concrete pictured above, is very tough to melt and the reason I believe Greenville county will atleast have a 2 hr delay In the am, possibly another whole day! They showed some TR high school shots and alot of ice still on roads

Even though I believe the NWS nailed it, the system probably still over-performed here.
