EastCoast NPZ
The Bengals found a way to clutch defeat out of the jaws of certain victory, much in the same way that we can find a way to get shut out in an epic -AO / -NAO / + PNA in an El-Nino. North Balti Zen
Hey buddy, you ok? Sorry for your loss...[/quoteNot really ok. 45 years old and that was the worst - even worse than loss in super bowl 23. Last won a playoff game when I was in college. I can't even. EastCoast NPZ
I'm no fan of Pacman Jones, but what a horrendous call. Tell me exactly what a Pittsburgh defensive assistant coach was doing out on the field in that situation? The second instance of an assistant coach of theirs initiating / provoking a confrontation with a Bengals player. Not that it does a lick of good, but the Bengals should protest this game. In an official timeout, basically anyone is allowed on the field, but I will agree with you, the Pittsburgh assistants tonight acted liked instigators a la 1970's NHL. Jebman
It is going to get colder from Jan 18 onward, and the storm track is going to be along the Gulf Coast then up the Eastern Seaboard and we are going to get annihilated by heavy snows in Washington DC then get hurled into the freezer with more snows inbound. There will be no more panic topics. This is going to be a snowy winter, regardless of how things may look right now in the Mid Atlantic. Virginia is going to get snowed in. Maryland is going to get snowed in and so is Washington DC. We are all going to have a lot of fun with the new winter graphics system and we are going to love it. Maybe, but in that instance you had a LB coach come onto the middle of the field into a group of Bengals defenders in a pseudo huddle. His only purpose there was to cause trouble. Officials should have recognized that. And that bump on an official happens every time there is an on-field altercation;rarely - if ever - is it called. And to decide the outcome of a playoff game on a call like that is just terrible.
EastCoast NPZ
Main takeaway: there is no hope. It was a good run. That modeled pattern was sure fun for a while though!
shoshanaz
My husband and I have a running joke that before any serious snow, I go into burrowing mode. This usually is manifest by me baking industriously for a couple of days. Bread, pizza crusts, sourdough loaves, cookies... I made sourdough waffles this morning, but I'm afraid that doesn't count. Still, I feel a need to bake coming .... in about 10 days. Too bad my long range instincts are so unreliable.

nw baltimore wx
-9 at MSP three hours to gametime. Good stuff. Pretty remarkable that they only have a wind chill advisory instead of a warning, and incredible that it expires at noon. Pretty tough folks up there. 87storms
The always 10 days away storm on the GFS. A winter MA tradition. Part of the reason for that could be that it's in the 50s right now and we haven't had a real prolonged period of cold weather yet. It's not needed. It can snow after a day of warmth but I think a colder pattern needs to get established first, if it does at all.

Ian
#Only10daysawayThis period has stayed pretty constant. It's moving closer. Think we (myself included) probably just jumped in a little soon initially. Need to let things percolate.
clskinsfan
Made it up to Rochester, NY for this week. Work stuff. Interesting that I didnt see a single snow pile or anything on the way here. I was talking to the lady at the front desk and she said it has been terrible here as well. Looks like we will be getting some this week while I'm here though. I'll try to post some pics if it happens. Might help some of you with your withdrawals

Think we (myself included) probably just jumped in a little soon initially. Need to let things percolate. I'm with you. My mood's just a bit darkened by a combination of the 12z GFS's combination of warm rain storms and then a OBX HECS in addition to taking down my Christmas tree in short sleeves. Not to mention my wife promised my 5yo son that we'll leave the outdoor Xmas lights up until it snows. We're going to be the classy house in the neighborhood come July.
