The front is likely massacring the warm SSTs.

The relatively warm ground temps should drop a bit too. The ground felt a little crunchy this afternoon, but whatever fraction of an inch that freezes will likely thaw out after tomorrow.

Park at 15 at midnight.

NYC will get down to 11-12F tonight so at least the warmest winter minimum temperature record won't be in play. I believe the highest winter minimum was 19F in 01-02 for Central Park. We are already well below it, and there are hints of a stronger arctic outbreak in mid January as the PV drops southeast, which would bring single digits.

Impressive cold tonight without snow cover. Down to 9F in White Plains, wind N@24G32. Pure CAA cold being driven straight down the Hudson Valley with due north winds.

Yup, that's how you get NYC temps to bottom out.
