TauntonBlizzard2013
Can someone explain this for me? How come some models seem to want to keep snow longer in SE Mass than most of CT.... Is that a reflection of how the warm air is being delivered?
SR Airglow
Seriously? Who the hell puts out a snowfall map 5 days in advance? Good grief. Bigger weenies than we are. The irony of it is that I think it's actually a decent map, but seriously? I'm sure we'll be getting commenters any second now blabbering about it... RUNNAWAYICEBERG
You'd think that you guys would be happier, everyone north of coastal CT looking like a lock for at least advisory and many places warning snows. Are we suppose to spike footballs like Gronk 5 days out? Yea were stoked for regions first snowfall, but most of us also know it's far from a lock and ish can change. ariof
Seriously? Who the hell puts out a snowfall map 5 days in advance? Good grief. Bigger weenies than we are. This is like a classic gambling hedge. Put half your money on the storm, and half your money not. If the storm comes, you win, because snow. If it fails, you get to make fun of TWC for being an even bigger than you.
ORH_wxman
18z GFS pretty similar to 12z. Maybe a shade faster. It remains a bit warmer than the GGEM and euro. Still probably solid advisory for pike region. Warning probably N MA into CNE.

powderfreak
Those wxbell snow maps are so weenieish. So much sleet gets counted as snow. Yeah I don't look at it as a snow map... I look at it as a QPF map with temps below freezing at H85 and H95, haha. It gives an idea of the extent of frozen precip, but yeah I wouldn't count on 11" in southern CT at this point. But they could get 1" of QPF as frozen/freezing.

I could see southern Worcester Cnty hills over to NW RI getting 3-5 out of this;not bad for first storm
TauntonBlizzard2013
Those wxbell snow maps are so weenieish. So much sleet gets counted as snow. It does indicate that those areas south of the pike are mostly frozen though

tavwtby
Not really, not sure about prior to 2013-2014, but we've had over 90" in the two winters I've been here, lot of nickel and dime event, and a few of 12+, but around the 84 corridor, yeah, snowhole. Southwest CT did great the last 2 years, with above 50 each year with almost 60 2 yrs ago. I guess northwest CT has been getting hard luck. Last 15 years were great with 10 an snowfall years. Ginx snewx
Yes. A lot of sleet it indicates.rare to get a lot of sleet in SWFE in NE Ct, usually thump to a sleet period then drizzle. Looking at that Euro depiction thats exactly what it shows.
Damage In Tolland
It sleets a ton in N CT in these setups. Sometimes snow to hours of sleet and then back to snow while only IJD east goes above freezing

TauntonBlizzard2013
I don't recall much sleet in SWFE here honestly.... I could be wrong..... But I just don't remember much at all
Damage In Tolland
This setup keeps getting colder. If so, sleet may stay South coast
Baroclinic Zone
I don't recall much sleet in SWFE here honestly.... I could be wrong..... But I just don't remember much at all Correct. We typically see maybe an hour of sleet before changeover to rain. There is nothing to reall stave off the ML warmth from flooding in here.
