Zookeeper Being Fired

I doubt it's really going to make much of a difference short of having an ASOS contractor taking the proper measurements. Measuring snow is a sticky science not likely to be fully grasped by these Central Park Conservancy "members". Pretty ridiculous if you ask me...we're talking about New York City...commit a qualified person to take the ****ing measurements already!

the last 22 years 1993-94 to 2014-15 was probably the snowiest 22 years on record and the zoo keepers were accused of low numbers and missing minor events...I can remember many storms that were low balled...

There were multiple events last winter where I measured a few inches more then the park at 116th and Broadway

I think the park really had about 58" last winter

The funny thing is even prior to 1993 I thought they undermeasured in many storms, the 1/22/87 storm I still have no clue how they only got 8.2 inches or whatever it was.

Yeah the Jan 3 2014 storm the park measured 6.4 inches and I got 8.5 inches and I believe 110 st received about the same

They actually had a good winter overall in 13-14, I thought they were finally turning the corner then they had a miserable year this past winter and it may have been the final straw for the NWS

I got just under a foot

EWR and LGA both saw about a foot in that storm, usually when those 2 are similar NYC is similar as well.  The only other event I know of where LGA/EWR were both high and NYC was notably lower was 12/5/03 and that was because LGA got hit harder by banding on 12/5 while EWR was hit by a stationary megaband all day on the 6th.

12-5-03 persistent mod banding lingered over LGA as well as stated.

Nope, it was the 27th snowiest 22 year period.

However, it was the snowiest 22 year period since the end of the 1925-26 season, so definitely anomalously snowy compared to recent history.

if the zookeeper recorded all the small amounts as 0.1"-0.5" instead of a trace it would have been... :pimp:
