Well I blew my forecast last night.  Really thought we would have quite a bit of ice.  Stayed around 34F.  For the first time since last spring my top layer of soil is saturated to the point that runoff is now slowly filling my pond.   PF, what's Euro have for total QPF for C/NNE?   Looks like the mix will get very close to me.  Still aways out for that line to wavier quite a bit.  How much natural snow do you need to open up ski trails that are totally bare?   I would guess at least 8" probably 10"??

Euro is pretty much 4-8" for all of us in the NNE thread. I think 7-8" will be hard to do but I feel good for 4-6" of snow and sleet.

For the EURO snow maps, it's 7" for me, you, LCI, Dendrite/Eek, and 8-9" for Dryslot and Tamarack. Though with the mid-level warmth I'd shave a couple off those numbers.

Needless to say we should all have the grass covered which will be a big win haha.

Thanks PF.  I have about 30 deer that winter in the woods right behind my house.  They are out nibbling at the grass.  Very unusual for them to have access to my apples and fields so late in the season.  For them 6" of powder is nothing but add a layer of sleet or freezing rain to ice then the coyotes have the advantage.  It will be nice to see a winter landscape.  Hard to believe its almost New Years.  Anyway you put it its going to be a short winter.  Next step is seeing if the big lakes in NH even freeze.

Event totals: 0.3” Snow/0.63” L.E.

There was an initial tenth of an inch of accumulation with those large flakes that fell right after the changeover to snow.  That accumulation melted, so I didn’t get a core on it, but there was an additional 0.2” of snow from the smaller flakes that fell after temperatures cooled.

Details from the 6:00 P.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 0.2 inches

New Liquid: 0.02 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 10.0

Snow Density: 10.0% H2O

Temperature: 30.2 F

Sky: Light Snow (1-4 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: Trace

BTV has seen a steady snow/sleet combo accumulating (trace) for a few hours now.  Radar looks low level. Maybe the mountains can squeak out something a bit better? Radar looks to be pretty low level, but an inch or two of sleet/wet wouldn't hurt anything for the holiday crowd.  Thinking about all those holiday skiers, it  could be a world of better skiing with just a couple inches of dense snow with snowmaking on top.

The pattern shows promise, that's for sure.  Hopefully a nice nickel/dime pattern setting up after Tuesday. We'll see.

Forgot how much I hated that storm.

You hated that storm? Check this out.

I hadn't had a big storm at home in the Hudson valley in years. I'm so pumped for that storm I saved the weenie snow map for posterity. Attached hereto from 1/25. I'm dead in the middle of the bullseye of 30"+. Not only that, but I'm good to 20" for 100 miles at least. And I'm a day out. So I'm getting ready, bring loads of wood into the house, Home Depot run, batteries, etc. I'm so psyched. What do I get?, 2 freakin inches, and the pleasure of seeing and hearing obout the spectacle in Sne over and over.

That storm was a punch to the gut I'll never forget. It was like seeing your favorite team on the cusp of a championship, blow the game in ungodly fashion.
