ravensrule
Gotta love it. If it's not gonna snow, this is my kind of weather. It's about time to take a walk. It's about time to start fishing at this point.
usedtobe
It's about time to start fishing at this point. If the GFS timing is right I might try Xmas eve. It the euro maybe the 23rd though I'd only fish a local pond.

Its not like we got a big snowstorm...then the pattern changed.....this is what we have had for months and months in a row.

That, and all our friends up the coast are enjoying the same. Not really painful in that regard!

Ji
Yeah I'm all for it. Let's keep it up all winter. the problem with hoping for a Feb 83 is your counting on a once in a life time storm to bail us out
Ian
the problem with hoping for a Feb 83 is your counting on a once in a life time storm to bail us out which is probably why almost all the local big names are going below rather than above. even in a perfect winter for such (which i wouldn't say this is at this point) the odds can't be terribly high of a repeat. doug k is all in on it tho i suppose. Bob Chill
I'm just going to focus on the positives of this pattern. Like if it happened in July we would all die

Channel 4 did go all in on their winter snow amounts for our area... 20"-25" and 30"-50" just to our west... though that area includes more of the Apps and the I-81 corridor
yoda
Whoops Cosgrove going cold to very cold for jan and feb for midcatlantic . the occurent weather in October analog wise continues to support my ideas of a moderately mild winter yet not snowless. I do not think that the excessive warmth (+3) calls will materialize as the October occurrent weather analogs do not super such an extreme
mappy
Not all of us. I'd love a pattern like this in July. 105/80 HI 145? Let's do it. thank god i have a pool

AvantHiatus
Last summer was pretty warm, but I want classic DC Hell on Earth heat. You will surely find your match in summer 2016.
HighStakes
While everyone is looking at the LLLLONG range I'm going to go out Saturday and enjoy my mid 30s and wind gusts to 30+ with maybe even a flurry thrown in there. Winter will be here . For a day or two at least. Taking the wife up to Gettysburg on Saturday. Figures it will be the one day it's going to be cold this month. EastCoast NPZ
I'd take a +10F winter in return for a -3F summer. Unfortunately, it is probably more likely that both winter and summer (as well as spring) are 10F.
mattie g
A warm Christmas rain is better than shorts and Bbq on the patio. Not to pick on you...but why do people feel this way? That's f'ing miserable!
North Balti Zen
Chasing warmth in December is pretty boring. Really miss there being legit snow chances. Or even storms to keep an eye on. When does the southern jet do anything other than be theoretical?
Fozz
No, which is why I need this. Gotta get the itch for heat beaten out of me once and for all. Oh man, in that case you really missed out on some epic heat waves. Those three summers had enough 100+ degree days that I'm done for the decade. wxdude64
If you were here then, you wouldn't be wishing for it now. I don't mind heat, but that was awful. Especially after the derecho in '12 where lots of folks suffered through no power/AC for 3-7 days in mid 90's-low 100's.
MN Transplant
If you were here then, you wouldn't be wishing for it now. I don't mind heat, but that was awful. And each year was awful in a different way. In 2010 it was the absurd, non-stop barrage of 90s. In 2011 it was the oppressive humidity and the overnight lows in the 80s. And 2012 went big with the 100s.
Sparky
I wouldn't mind a redo of 2012 summer because the severe was widespread and frequent.
