snowman19
Agree. The cold front call was a good one.As expected the GEFS don't agree at all with the operational run. The operational is on its own planet as usual. Shocking right?
MJO812
It hurts doesn't it? Your hopes dashed, your dreams down the toilet. And your fate is sitting right besides you. Not at all. PB GFI
As expected the GEFS don't agree at all with the operational run. The operational is on its own planet as usual. Shocking right? These 10 day fantasy storms are always driven by 1 poster , he has done it for the last 5 years and will do it for the next 10.Lucky for us this stuff stayed in the banter thread. Where it belongs. Don't worry , by mid Jan these will have their own threads.
bluewave
It makes things much easier if you only look at OP runs to 120hrs and the ensemble means for 120hrs+.

Cfa
This feels anything but normal It does to me. I think even average mid Dec conditions would be a shock to me at this point, let alone anything below normal.
EasternLI
It makes things much easier if you only look at OP runs to 120hrs and the ensemble means for 120hrs+. Absolutely. Rule of thumb right here. Long range OP runs are good for entertainment value.
bluewave
Very good point there. Even the OP Euro...with the exception of Sandy..often has OP runs beyond 120 hrs that are at odds with the more reliable ensemble mean.

Brian5671
First winter I have ever owned a snowblower, a king sized one at that start throwing tomatoes at me now no snowballs possible in this heat You can look at it as an insurance policy against no snow. Someday you'll need it though. We bought a 4 wheel drive vehicle in August...I said at the time we'd now go warm and snowless...LOL

mattinpa
I still have hope for that beyond day 7 forecast. It takes a while for the NWS to change its thinking, especially since things have been already above normal for so long. 18z GFS looked blah, but was one run. atownwxwatcher
Fully expect to stay above normal for the rest of the month and for the flip to the pattern to occur during the first week of January. There will be occasional cool downs but nothing locking in..
Rjay
KNYC should break it's record high on Sunday. Will they smash it? Over/Under: 4.5 degrees above the previous record
Rjay
I believe knyc was +17 yesterday. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/OKX/CLINYC Average low for today is 33. KNYC got down to 56 (unless it hit 55 between hours...we'll know soon). http://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KNYC.html

bluewave
I don't think anyone would have bet last December at this time that 2015 would feature the third coldest February followed by the top level record warmth from May through December.
