Manhattan is getting a new area code next year. Did you guys know north dakota only has one area code? 701. Kinda crazy.

I think Alaska does too.  At least they overlay now-back in the day when they added them, a portion of the population had to change theirs, print new letter head etc etc.

NY state currently has 17 area codes.

My folks just got totally screwed on LI.  They go to FLA for the winter and the phone company got confused thinking they were not paying their bill even though they requested suspended service.  Turns out they don't find out for weeks the service was axed because of no payment, now they lost their phone number.  Its been hell trying to find everyone and tell them the new number.

Ok didn't know you were in the hills, beautiful country there, drive through it on the way to Atlanta and back

Yea, driving up I-81 is "God's country" as they say, especially in the fall or if it recently snowed.  Parts of NY/New England really remind me of it, actually.

All that really would mean is that there would be an increased potential for a full latitude trough developing

A monster El Niño coupled with robust high latitude blocking spells potential for a monster storm. Slow the flow down and phase the two streams. Potential is there we'll see.
