Chitown Storm
Currently 7° and very little wind. Went from 0% ice coverage on the lake last night to about 80% covered this morning. Still no chance of pond hockey on Christmas though. Ice will take a major hit tomorrow with upper 30s forecasted.
osubrett2
Saw some mood flakes across Central Ohio between 3pm and 6pm, but officially no accumulation. A trace was recorded at CMH. A trace is still the official tally for the season too. Now we look ahead to January for our first 0.1".
michsnowfreak
Total snow of 0.3" since yesterday afternoon. With the brisk wind and dry snow though there is sublimation and drifting against curbs. Nice to have a brisk December day. Icy spits on unsalted roads. cyclone77
Down to 14 this morning here. Felt pretty chilly out there with the winds still gusting. Definitely not feeling as acclimated to the cold as I usually am by Christmas week.

cyclone77
40s and 50s as far as the eye can see in the point. Since this Dec is looking to finish abysmally low in the snow department it's looking like we'll have a 3rd December out of the last 5 to finish under 1" of snow. Dec 2011 0.8" Dec 2014 Trace Dec 2015 0.5" (looks like that should do it) Sure have had our share of pure trash Decembers in the last 5 years. Doubt we'll ever see a set like this during such a short stretch again.
TugHillMatt
My area in West Michigan is now 2 feet of snow behind where we should be by this time. We've had about 3 inches for the entire season. 3 inches in November and a dusting to 1/2 inch yesterday. Unreal that southern Michigan has had more snow than us even in this crappy warm pattern. Dec 2014: 0.1", which is the 2nd least snowy Dec on record. YET....2014 finished with 82.3", which is the 2nd SNOWIEST calendar year on record, missing #1 by a mere 0.3". BuffaloWeather
I think he's the thunder snow capital of our forum. I agree, needs to change his name Hopefully one of these years I can get in on a intense band from Superioir thru Lake Mich that can get enough instbaility to generate some T-Snow. Yeah I think we average 3-5 thunder-snow events a year. It's because lake erie gets so warm and when you get that cold air over the lake it creates extreme instability. Not many other lakes get thunder snow as they cool and warm much slower than Erie. The negative to that is Erie freezes quickly. (69% of the time Erie freezes over in winter) I can't change my name though, I've had it since the Eastern forums and love all forms of weather so I can't pick one side. Here are some totals for the last LES event, picked up 3.1" at my residence. SpartyOn
Funny how cold upper 30s and low 40s feel during a torched winter. Yesterday felt bitter and harsh. Chambana
It's looking increasingly likely for record breaking temperatures once again for December 23rd, set back in 1933. Pretty crazy temp swings can happen in December, our record high is 64 set back in 1933, and record low was -18, good for an 82 degree temperature swing. Would be nice to lay down 1-3" of snow for Christmas, but at this point, let's go for the warmest December on record.

Yup, pretty much. The past 4 Decembers (2013 as the exception) have been clunkers, with epic February's for the come back. Except for 2011-2012, that was just a **** show.
