bluewave
Lol currently 58 at KNYC If the 56 low holds through midnight, then we beat the record high minimum in NYC easily by 3 degrees. Very impressive when your low is 23 degrees above the normal minimum of 33. 12/12 53 in 1899 50 in 1979 47 in 1931
Damage In Tolland
The day started out foggy. Unfortunately, once the fog lifted, a horror scene unfolded. Winter was missing. That is horrific Don. It's like Elephant man ..look away I'm hideous type stuff. Looks like coastal Carolina
CIK62
Now Here This>>>>>>>>> GFSx drops temperature anomaly over the next 8 days (including today) from +17degs. to +16degs. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mos/getmex.pl?sta=KACY&sta=KEWR&sta=KNYC&sta=KJFK&sta=KLGA But still can't guarantee a below normal day for us. bluewave
You have to wonder what caused the weeklies to have such a big miss week 4 with the North Pacific pattern. That trough digging into Western North America really surprised the model. It did really well with the Pacific last winter, but this El Nino really threw it a curve ball in December. http://www.kptv.com/link/492613/fox-12-weather-blog
CIK62
(11x8.3) + (8x16) = 91+128 = 219 deg. deficit for month as of morning of the 20th.) if GFSx is about right with the next 8 days. We need a deficit of just about 210 (6.7x31)to become warmest ever Dec. Therefore the last 11 days of month would have to average slightly below normal [say 9/11 of a degree] to prevent this outcome. CIK62
For the record, Accuwether's automated long range forecast shows no below normal days for the remainder of month. The 19th. comes the closest. Not even a high in the 30's indicated.

SnoSki14
The only days that will actually feel like December will be 19-20th and even then it'll only be near normal. After that it's off to the races yet again. Just spectacular warmth that'll crush 2001 to take the top spot, which I didn't think was possible so quickly. The 72 hr. period 12/19-21 should stay within 29-43degs. Then we go right back to LOWS in the 50's after X-Mas.

Yeah, that's probably the only time cold weather enthusiasts will really get a chance to enjoy some seasonable weather this month. Really been an incredible stretch. Stormlover74
It is like living in some alternate universe. Reminds me of March 2010 or 2012 that were so crazy it confused the seasons. Can Central Park or at least parts of the city remain above freezing the entire month?
SnoSki14
Interestingly enough Monday is going to feel like the warmest day because we'll start introducing humidity and higher dews along with temps in the 60s. In fact it'll feel downright unpleasant.
