   AREAS AFFECTED...PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN IA INTO FAR
   SOUTHWEST WI AND NORTHWEST IL

   CONCERNING...HEAVY SNOW

   VALID 210133Z - 210530Z

   SUMMARY...AREAS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WITH RATES NEAR 1-INCH PER
   HOUR WILL CONTINUE THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.

   DISCUSSION...A BAND OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW EXTENDING FROM NEAR
   DSM TO PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST WI/NORTHWEST IL WAS OCCURRING IN
   RESPONSE TO STRONG ASCENT AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING SHORTWAVE
   TROUGH...AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH A ZONE OF 700 MB FRONTOGENESIS.
   AREAS OF NEAR 1-INCH PER HOUR SNOWFALL RATES MAY CONTINUE FOR THE
   NEXT SEVERAL HOURS...THROUGH AROUND 05-06Z. TO THE SOUTH AND
   EAST...INCLUDING PARTS OF NORTHERN INTO CENTRAL IL...TEMPERATURES
   RANGE FROM THE MID 30S TO LOWER 40S WITH MUCH OF THE AIRMASS BELOW
   850 MB REMAINING ABOVE FREEZING AND RATHER DRY /PER THE ILX 00Z
   RAOB/.  THIS WILL RESULT IN A GRADUAL TRANSITION TO SNOW AND RATES
   WILL BE LIGHTER AS STRONGER FORCING LIFTS NORTH/NORTHEAST OVERNIGHT.

THIS SUPPORTS AREAS OF 12 INCHES TO POSSIBLY LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS  
OF AROUND 14 INCHES POSSIBLE...MOSTLY ALONG AND NORTH OF I-80 CORRIDOR.  
IF RADAR AND OBSERVATION TRENDS CONTINUE MAY NEED TO ADD A COUPLE MORE
