DTX stopped just short of mentioning thundersnow this afternoon, per the latest update.

But of course we already knew the possibility would be there.

I think some of us will see it. I'd be shocked if no one gets thundersnow this afternoon. That band means business moving this way.

Have a disappointing 6.2" estimate here, with the uncleared snow board and most of the yard under 5.5".  The heavier snow band ended up in northern Iowa and not central like some models (Euro) predicted, although the surface low seems to have tracked plenty far south for us.

 

I got about the same amount here as you did.  Iowa City got around 8-9 inches.  Areas in far southeast Iowa only got a couple inches!  At least it wasn't as much as a cement snow as on the morning of February 1, 2015.

Been snowing here heavy to moderate for 3 hours. 12.6" at 12pm. Would imagine I'm up to 13" by now.

 

People getting stuck on roads around here trying to go places...

 

Temp is falling now also. 31.0°. Snow is freezing to the trees.
