Low level moisture. Easterly flow bringing in a lot of dry air at the surface. The slug of high returns headed your way will cause the snow to start soon. 2-4 still looking like a good bet. On the conservative side.

At an absolute loss as to why the snow hasn't even started in Fort Wayne yet. P&C forecast up to 2 to 4 inches, included in the advisory, water vapor looks good, radar looks good...what are we missing?

Marginal temps really hampering accumulation here.  Have a little bit of white on sections of the pavement, with more on grassy surfaces obviously.   Snow falling at a decent clip with decent sized flakes right now.

The models that had the "ring" of much less snow around Lake Michigan definitely appear to be doing better than the models that didn't show that.

It took forever for it to start here too. Dewpoint was in the teens and the easterly flow was causing some downsloping/drying of air. It has been snowing moderately since it started though. Evaporational Cooling that comes along with the drying of air will help to cool your temp down quickly as well.

Agree. Had the same conditions here all morning. Snow just started down here in Huntington about 20 minutes ago and just increased in intensity. SN+ began as I am typing this. HUGE flakes. Should hit FWA very soon.

If you have tree branches sagging, I highly recommend getting out there with a broom and knocking some of snow off those trees to save them. The heavy, wet snow doesn't look to be letting up, and without appreciable wind to knock some snow off the branches, trees are starting to give in. I just walked around my yard and saved a number of our favorite planted trees.

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1992

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

1026 AM CST SAT NOV 21 2015

AREAS AFFECTED...PORTIONS OF CENTRAL INDIANA

CONCERNING...HEAVY SNOW

VALID 211626Z - 211830Z

SUMMARY...OBSERVATIONAL TRENDS SUGGEST THAT THE SRN EXTENT OF A

HEAVY SNOW BAND BECOMING ESTABLISHED FROM NRN IL TO SRN LOWER

MI...IS ALSO EXTENDING INTO PARTS OF CNTRL INDIANA. SNOWFALL RATES

AROUND 1 INCH PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THIS ACTIVITY INTO THE

AFTERNOON HOURS.

DISCUSSION...THE RISK FOR HEAVY SNOW ADDRESSED IN RECENTLY ISSUED

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1991 IS EXTENDING SWD INTO PARTS OF CNTRL

INDIANA. WET-BULB COOLING WITHIN THE BOUNDARY LAYER IS ENCOURAGING

THE RECENT PHASE-CHANGE TO...AND MAINTENANCE OF...SNOW. THIS IS IN

ASSOCIATION WITH A SHIELD OF PRECIPITATION ADVANCING ENEWD ACROSS

THE LOWER GREAT LAKES REGION. SURFACE OBSERVATIONS AT THE

LAFAYETTE/PURDUE UNIVERSITY ASOS INDICATE HEAVY SNOW...WITH A RECENT

AMDAR SOUNDING NEAR INDIANAPOLIS SUGGESTING DEEP NEAR-/SUB-FREEZING

TEMPERATURES FAVORING EFFICIENT SNOW AGGREGATION. THESE FACTORS

SUGGEST THAT THE HEAVY SNOW RISK...WITH RATES OF 1 INCH PER

HOUR...IS EXTENDING SWD INTO CNTRL INDIANA. PRESENT INDICATIONS ARE

THAT HEAVY SNOW WILL LAST INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS....ENHANCED BY

AMPLE 700-MB FRONTOGENESIS...AND EVENTUALLY MAINTAINED BY

DEFORMATION-ZONE RELATED ASCENT.

Heading out to knock down some more snow now. My White Pines have been shedding the snow fairly well. Snow is about to become drier with the 30° line moving eastwards across the county.

Just saw a picture of the Chicago lakefront with no snow. That should change though pretty soon.
