This is an impossible forecast for NWS Pittsburgh.

First off, how in the hell do you post advisories and warnings for a county when one part of the county might get two inches, and the opposite end of the county could get a foot? You would almost need to place warnings like they do severe weather warnings now, and localize the boxes at this point.

Two, just in general, with such a sharp cut off, their is simply no way to know for sure. There are so many factors including exact low placement and track, and how far the price field expands with the confluence, that for Pittsburgh proper, for example, anything from nothing, to a foot truly is on the table right now when you consider a 25 mile shift either way could get you into either of those totals.

Good luck to those guys....

Agree 100%. I said earlier I feel bad because if this shifts 25-50 miles one way another the general public just won't get it and all you will hear is Met bashing, oh the weathermen don't know anything, only job you can be wrong at 80% of the time comments. Although if Jeff V really did forecast only flurries I'd love to see it shift enough so the city gets like 6-8 inches lol

My friend from WTOV9 told me yesterday he was talking about a trowal on a conference call yesterday afternoon with several other mets....he said it's just basically a very heavy squall to explain it to me to understand-lol

Kinda figured that's what that meant.  Hopefully it sets up right up over our area.

Well we have 2 more model cycles to get through to see if we have any creeps north then its nowcast time. One thing I will say, even if this ends up a total bust this has probably been one of the most fun storms to track in awhile. Our thread may be slow at times but we are building a nice little weather community here.

Agreed! Tracking a big one like this does not come around often and I definitely enjoyed it, even with the ups and downs.

Seems like some the ultra weenies from years past fell off. NOT a bad thing

We need a red tag, no offense but a skilled professional is always needed during these times..

You can't tell me that all the stations in Pittsburgh, with the NWS there not one Met doesn't come on here?

Pretty sure Coraopolis works for a weather station if I am not mistaken.

I missed all the fun today. Of course if I do get any snow it is supposed to start late tomorrow night and end Saturday morning sometime. I hate those kind of snows because I don't even get to see it snowing. I go to bed .....wake up and the snow is on the ground and letting up. Then I have to shovel it and it's done. Unless we can get it to move north more and it will snow longer on Saturday.
