PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT  NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE QUAD CITIES IA IL  955 AM CST THU NOV 12 2015     ..NWS DAMAGE SURVEY TEAM IN THE FIELD TODAY    A TEAM FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN THE QUAD CITIES IS IN  THE FIELD TODAY TO SURVEY DAMAGE FROM THE STORMS THAT MOVED  THROUGH THE AREA WEDNESDAY.     THE TEAM IS INVESTIGATING DAMAGE AT SEVERAL LOCATIONS NORTH AND  EAST OF THE QUAD CITIES...INCLUDING LE CLAIRE IOWA...ERIE  ILLINOIS...AND NORTHERN HENRY COUNTY ILLINOIS. MORE INFORMATION  FROM THE SURVEY IS EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON  OR EARLY THIS EVENING.

11/11/2015 SCOTT IA NWS STORM SURVEY  

 

TORNADO DEVELOPED ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND TRACKED  

NORTHEAST INTO LE CLAIRE. DAMAGE PRIMARILY TO TREES.  

SEVERAL HOMES HAD ROOF AND SIDING DAMAGE. THE ROOF OF ONE  

HOME WAS LIFTED OFF AND FLIPPED OVER ONTO A NEIGHBORING  

HOME. PATCH LENGTH WAS 2.37 MILES AND PATH WIDTH WAS 50  

YARDS. ESTIMATED PEAK WIND WAS 100 MPH. TORNADO WAS RATED  

EF-1.

Been a constant roar today. Sustained around 20 and a couple 40-45mph gusts, but nothing really in the advertised warning criteria. Several of the leaf piles made by my neighbors were kicked up and swirled into a small 'leaf devil' about 10 feet high, which was kinda neat. Also fairly certain I saw a for sale sign get picked up and thrown onto the roof of a nearby house during the strongest gust this morning.

Not a bad day overall.

It's not like these are not associated with severe t'storms (haven't seen a t'storm since September IMBY, and probably won't see another one until April 2016), so I really don't care if today's winds busted. It was still a crap day.

At least the "rain" overachieved. ;)

I figured that the damage near Albia, Iowa would be in the EF2 range.
