cyclone77
Pretty impressive concentration of reports today over IA and surrounding areas. Filtered report total up to 100 now. Not bad at all. To the west of here in LeClaire a report of 70mph winds. Also a report a large door blowing off a steel building south of here near Atkinson. I'm anxious to see if there's any damage around here tomorrow after the sun comes up. Surely the lack of foliage helped out quite a bit. Reviewing radar it looks like the inflow jet from the rear of the storm may have been what caused the winds to be so strong here. Was immediately trailing the line. Weird part was the part of the line that moved through here was sort of meh looking on radar, but it almost looked like a weak bookend vortex. Looping radar you can see a blob of higher winds move from this area up towards the north side of Sterling, so it had some staying power.
Geos
That main line is nowhere near as intense as the radar wold lead you to believe. Complete non-event as it passed me. Wouldn't have guessed that! Looked like a textbook bow echo. Winds have slackened off for the time being.
cyclone77
Carroll Iowa is gusting up to 52mph now, with snow falling. Some heavier returns are moving in as well. That's gotta be pretty wild.

Hoosier
If anyone wants to look quickly at a radar loop, check out how the reflectivity rapidly weakened as it approached Kenosha/Waukegan area just now. Almost like it hit a wall.
Geos
Line could have died off due to the onshore flow. I'm sure once the cold front approaches; which is way out by Hawkeye right now, the winds will crank up. Moderate rain here now. No thunder or lightning. Gilbertfly
Pretty solid line down this way...gusts were higher in the few minutes leading up to it out of the south. There was one big gust out of the west that was probably 50+...some small hail and heavy rain continues...minor street flooding

Chicago WX
Nothing too exciting with this line as it passed through my hood. A little rain, a little wind...but pretty run of the mill.
cyclone77
Didn't have all that much lightning with the main line here. Most noteworthy one was a big crash about a half hour after the line passed from a huge positive strike out of the light rain. Southwesterlies starting to pick up again. Gusting over 40mph now in southeast Iowa.
