Yep, if moisture would have been higher and more extensive geographically this would have been outbreak potential.

I think the last time we observed this much shear (95 knots 0-6km in the Topeka sounding) in a severe event must've been 11/17, when ILN's 19z sounding found 84 knots 0-6km. We got hit by the low-topped squall around 01z, so the 00z sounding might've had even more shear than 84 knots... but they didn't launch the 00z balloon.

The first tornado warning in Linn County this year occurred in November! I don't know if it's happened before, but this storm system really overachived. If instability was higher than it was, this could have been a major tornado outbreak, aka November 17, 2013.

I really wouldn't say it overachieved.

Tornado Watch 535 locally extended by ILX and now includes Peoria, Beardstown, Jacksonville, etc. (not to Springfield at least yet)--and ironically now includes part of the far southeastern part of the original watch box to begin with (including Cass, Morgan, and Scott counties in ILX's CWA).
