Surprisingly heavy rain last night...picked up almost 2" in about 3 hours.  Winds gusted a little, but nothing substantial.  Another over-achiever for us in the rain department.

Still pretty warm this morning at 64/62.  Interested to see if we get some decent wind when the actual front comes through.

The line that went through here at 8:16 am brought winds that were absolutely ferocious!!!! :o  Strongest winds of the year easily, sustained was some of the highest in a few years. It looked like a hurricane and the sound was just this howl that lasted minutes. My guess was 85-90 km/h peak with 75-80 km/h lasting 1 minute. For reference I don't get winds like that often. There are numerous reports of power outages on the Bruce peninsula and shoreline where it must have been even more amazing, since whole barn roofs got ripped off. Low level winds were wicked. The time this is hitting southern Ontario is pretty dangerous, the most populated areas getting the line right now have rush hour traffic or high transit movement. Appears the line may be strengthening too.

I'm surprised I still have power after it. Another jaw-dropping stat: it was 19ºC at 2:30 am this morning in Goderich and Owen Sound...

Huge hydro outages across Bruce County too you guys got smoked. Wind warning issued here, but I'd be surprised if they gusted over 60kmh in town. Airport hit 76kmh.

^wow. Unexpected.

Good reminder to not completely write off these highly dynamic setups.

Here's the DTX sounding at 12z.  Bad Axe was 65/59 just prior to the tornado so you can probably tack on a bit instability wise, but still.  Shear parameters were very strong though.

Not in DTX's CWA.

There were a few strikes in far NE Michigan and Ontario.

That may also explain the lack of SPC storm reports (because this was non-t'storm severe weather).

I've seen NWS offices send in the reports as thunderstorm winds before from low topped convective lines with little to no lightning that show up on the SPC page. At the very least the 3 tornadoes should show up on the SPC reports page.

the April 9th Hillsdale Tornado never got on the list, nor the ones confirmed after that.

They're all listed as "non-tstorm wind damage" on the local reports page

I'm aware of that, was just saying that I've seen instances where NWS offices have listed damage from similar setups as "thunderstorm wind damage." They confirmed 3 tornadoes and then called some of the other damage a "downburst" which is definitely convective in nature.

got power back, that was a fun morning yesterday, I have no doubts there was a 4th tornado that hit the east side of bad axe near me also. Roughly 50 yards north of my house is a swath of damage about 30-50 yards wide that runs about 3/4 of a mile west to east. In it trees were snapped and uprooted, a shed was destroyed, my neighbor's garage was pushed off its foundation, and a large fuel tank was rolled. I'm about 1/2 mile north of the airports 73mph reading, between me and the airport there isn't any damage, most of the town has none outside this path and the confirmed tornado.
