Hvward
True ...dont see it happening though. If Syracuse can hold them to a 10 point lead, I believe they are beatable. If the heels can get our air assault rolling early, we might just stomp our tar covered heels right into the CFP. It will be very difficult to hold out a 12-1 ACC conference champ. True the cards have to fall our way and we have to win the games, but this is the first time that I can remember any NC team having a path to the National Championship game during the final few games of the season. With that said, UNC just needs to win this week and that will be tough since it is Beemers last game at VT. Then of course we have a battle against NCST because that is always a battle and they very well could beat us. But if all the if's come true.. I have got my tickets already to be front and center in Charlotte Dec 5th to hopefully watch history/chaos unfold. Anyone who doesn't think UNC can play with Clemson hasn't watched the last two games the Heels have played. The #2 offense in the nation and a top 30 defense is nothing to look over, so don't be so shocked when the heels show up and give Clemson a very good game in CLT. I wouldn't expect the Duke or NC State fans to give UNC any credit though. If we get in the top 4 the folks on Pack Pride(Crack Ride) will have the N&O reviewing every folder and post-it note that every UNC football player touched this year, making sure they didn't cheat. I have to say, I am looking forward to it.

Jon
I cant believe UNC is ranked #17. They are not getting a lot of respect. If they win out and beat Clemson they deserve to be in the top 4. They're #12 in the AP Poll fwiw. Their conference schedule isn't as hard as other's (coastal division) and like someone mentioned their non-conference was cake but so were a lot of other's. They lost to a 3-7 USC team who has some humiliating losses. Anyone who beats #1 deserves to be ranked high I agree, but I think they deserve where they're at right now to be honest...All those 5 two loss teams ahead of UNC should mess up and UNC should win out, although NC State vs UNC is always a big game. I think they are getting respect (commentators talked about them for days yesterday on ESPN), but the committee isn't going to consider them a threat for playoffs until they beat a Top 5 team...and that's not a respect thing, that's a reality. Just look at #16 Navy, also with only 1 loss, but has two wins against two top 15 teams.
packbacker
How UNC is even eligible for post season play for basketball/football is just beyond ridiculous. Any other university would be under severe penalties right now, they ran Jimmy V out of town for his players selling some old sneakers for pizza money. Come on... Amazing how State/Clemson/FSU/Louisville are all in the same division and UNC has the powerhouses knows as Miami/Duke....great job Swofford (UNC grad). The ACC always has been and always will be a basketball-first conference. The divisions seem a lot more balanced when you look at it from a basketball rather than a football perspective. As a Duke fan, I have no issue giving UNC credit for what they've done this year. Their offense is the real deal, and their defense is not bad at all. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but... I would like to see UNC win out to face Clemson in the ACC Championship game with only one loss. (A part of me just died inside...) That is the best possible scenario for the ACC, and I think it would make for a great game in Charlotte. To keep this weather-related... I predict partly cloudy skies and low 40s for temp at kickoff. Brick Tamland
This. I guess the ncaa doesn't feel making up courses for athletes that they don't even attend is not a big deal. You need to get your facts right, The course was one course in one department that was offered to every student, not just athletes. State even has a course just for athletes that is taught for someone in the athletic department about preparing for college that they get credits for, and everyone makes an A. The class at UNC still required work. The students still had to turn in papers. There are paper classes everywhere. There are easy classes at every school. Duke basketball players mostly major in sociology. I wonder why. The deal with the one course at UNC is the professor was lazy and didn't want to grade the papers, so he let his secretary do it. You have your head in the sand or you are just a plain hater if you don't think students, both athletes and non-athletes, try to take easy classes at every school to keep their GPA up. If the NCAA wants to investigate easy classes for an easy A, they are going to have to investigate every single college and university. That's not even their job. That's an academic issue. If the athletes don't benefit more than the non-athletes, then the NCAA isn't going to do anything about it. UNC has had several investigations into the matter, They have bent over backwards for the NCAA, a lot more than most schools would. Some would argue they even did too much. It's become a witch hunt now by media people desperately trying to keep selling papers and remain relevant, former disgruntled players that were not all there to begin with, former staff who want to try to be famous and make money off it, and fans of other schools who are stuck with the mediocre performances of their basketball and football teams for years. The above mentioned website has thread after thread on the scandal, all where individuals speculate things about UNC, then search through thousands of emails from UNC looking for a narrative to their hypothesis. Imagine how many engineering firms unknowingly paid their employees to dig up dirt on UNC. We did our time for the Marvin Austin deal and that was over, but pack fans couldn't let the heels out of the spotlight. After Mary Willingham wrote her book about paper classes she meandered around privacy laws to get her results, buts thats ok. Haha I had an independent study class st UNCC years ago that required me to turn in 3 papers the whole semester while never entering a classroom. This paper class was recommended to me by my advisor since I had a tough schedule. Unless the NCAA can prove that coaches went to teachers of these classes asking them to give good grades to their players and the players were graded on a diffent scale then the other regular students in the class, then how is this an athletics issue? That is why UNC is being investigated for me impermissible benefits. Jonathan
I don't know about you guys, but I don't watch college sports and think to myself after I see someone make a great play "hmm, I wonder what that guy's GPA is? What classes does he take I wonder?" I didn't go to whatever schools are playing (unless Radford is playing lol) so I'm just there to see what their athletes can do. Period. I'm not interested in academics. Not sure why people have to be on a pedestal about players taking easy/fake/whatever classes to make themselves or the school they root for feel better. Not sure how that works. With that said, I believe that the NCAA had an absolutely PRIME opportunity to flex its muscles and show the nation that they're not playing around with the UNC ALLEGED "scandal." But they didn't. That was their one big shot to prove that they were serious and ready to absolutely BUST a top tier college, and they couldn't get UNC on anything serious. They lost some scholarships, which really hurts the school's athletics. Case closed. On another note, there were some awesome games last night. UK/Duke and MSU/KU were both great games. Mainly the latter though. I think all four of those teams have a real shot at the title this year.
