You can really tell where the front is. Per wunderground map, everything in the mountains in the 30s with some 20s and even teens showing up. Everything in the upstate still in the low 50s and upper 40s. Waiting on the cold here in the upstate! 

 

Front is near the coast, no push to get the cold air over the mountains as usual.  Once the air bleeds down the northeast it will get in here.  Its why the averages east of the mountains run 3-5 degrees warmer than west, you miss an entire day of the cold air mass, while there is nothing to block the return feed from the southwest.

Well the cold air always trails the front and gets hung in the mountains. The front means nothing without the cold (as far as I'm concerned), and that's what I'm waiting for. Hopefully the push will works it's way down soon and downslopping compression won't heat all of our cold. GSP still looking for it's first hard freeze tonight, been down to 32 twice but only for brief periods.
