dailylurker
Picked up 1.02" since the start last night. Not bad considering what the radar looked like this morning. Typical summer evening. Warm and humid. Temp 63. I can't wait to get some cooler weather. Crickets and tree frogs piss me off when it's almost December lol.

WVclimo
Radiational cooling working well tonight. Last ob was 43 at HGR, 39 at MRB. 33 in my yard. Forecast low of 23 looks good, and would be the coldest night of the season.

CAPE
Got to 28. Was below freezing for at least 8 hours. Hopefully that puts the grass into hibernation for the winter. My lowest temp so far was 29 for several hour last Sunday. Thought that would do in my grass. Its still quite green in places, but not growing much. Still one more mow at least, mostly to finish off the leaves.

While elevation played some role, I think Tyson's ever-increasing urban character is also helping. Its quite a concentration.
RDM
Tyson's is at 496 feet at the intersection of 123 and International Drive. We're 3.7 miles to the west as a crow flies at 380 feet. We got down to 27 last night. Tyson's has a fair bit of heat island effect going on too. Can often be spitting there when we have snow.

Untitled-1 copy.jpg I used Tyson's quite broadly. My readings are pretty much all elevation-related (~470'). I can be bright green and a block away they can have heavy frost. 10 degrees within a mile or so is not uncommon, and there has been no land cover change in decades. 50-100' makes a massive difference. Localized influences are interesting. Over here there is nothing even remotely resembling an UHI, and no real elevation differences either...everywhere is less than 100 feet. It comes down to proximity to the water, and now far north you are (and soil composition when there is no snow cover). I am in the interior, away from both bays, and far enough north that my temps on nights that radiate well are often as much as 10 degrees colder than places along the bay.
