Ginx snewx
Hoperfully everyone survived the "wild, damaging night" unscathed. 1.81" here. Some big trees down in scattered locations, it was a wild night for sure.
Ginx snewx
Hope you Wind Warriors out there were pleased with this storm. I was promised trees would be stripped of all their leaves...yet I wake up to find that it's almost as if the trees have more leaves on them. Good rain storm, but the wind was meh. Ginx snewx
Sounds like normal 25-35kt damage. Nothing wild at all. I am not really saying anything other than it was a wild night, geezus. We get it, it wasn't a damaging all out terrible storm for you. It was run of the mill but still pretty wild especially if you were out driving. Cape had thunder so pretty dynamic...but given all the reports...not sure wild. A good storm..yes.
CapturedNature
That was at 5:00 when I was running while you were still sound asleep lol...no, I'm up at that time and no, winds weren't "ripping" then either. I didn't see any 25-30mph winds reported at BDL, IJD or ORH at that time.

ORH_wxman
Straying away from subjective terms....we had advisory winds in some spots on the coast and failed to meet advisory inland save for the most exposed places. Nobody achieved high wind warning status except the top of blue hill.
CoastalWx
Wild is a somewhat subjective term. I definitely wouldn't use it for this type of storm but others might. It is, but usually there is some meaning and reasoning behind the word. Just not sure I would describe it as such, but to each his own.

Ginx snewx
Can't wait to see the drought report today, trembling in anticipation for Kevs post. anyways nice 2-4 region wide with some good gusts and a decent period last night of sustained. Very very well forecasted event. Good job by the NWS and some local Mets on this one, had the timing down perfect which is essential some times . dryslot
My totals are screwed---no doubt to leaves. Through the downpour that's going through now, it's not picking up anything. It also shows no rain after 1:07a.m.. Bummer. Get a stratus gauge as a back up

Very very well forecasted event. Good job by the NWS and some local Mets on this one, had the timing down perfect which is essential some times . I was probably a bit low with my estimate, it looks like I probably had closer to 1.75 but the wind in the valley was a non issue which was pretty much expected. 5,000 or so power outages is isolated to scattered damage so for a few people it was wild but for most it was a decent storm but didn't produce damage or flooding so it won't really be memorable. powderfreak
Looks like 1.52" here. If winds are gusting to 25-30 on your station at ground level, they must be unreal at tree level. Fairly calm here, save for some nice breezes every once and a while. Iol MetHerb always good for some reality checks.
