NycStormChaser
Think it's going to be difficult to catch much activity south of 42N or so. Kp index has been hovering around 5-6, which is strong, but necessarily as robust as we'd like it for our latitude. It appears the Bz has gone south; however, so there should be some good viewing well north of NYC, possibly in the Hudson Valley / Catskills. With a KP 5, you will see it in the Catskills along route 28 in the darker spots. I'm almost there.Edit: By eye you will see it faint with your eyes. If you have a camera and can set it to long exposure you'll be even better

IsentropicLift
Congrats on the Indian Summer Warlock. It's nice not to have to wear a jacket in November, although once the sun went down last night the windows were closed and the shorts went back in the drawer. Big Jims Videos
Only turned the heat on once during that cold snap in October. Debated turning the AC on yesterday but it cooled off quickly enough. Feels great walking into a hot car before leaving for work too warmed by the sun. Any day it's still above 50 before next spring is a win.

bluewave
First time since 2003 that NYC has reached 70 degrees or greater twice in November. With more 70+ degree potential ahead, NYC will have the most 70 degree days in November during the 2000's.

bluewave
whats so interesting about this warm spell is the clear air we are having...this isn't a dirty airmass... Yeah, this is a very strong ridge over the Eastern US with the main jets forced over or under with plenty of dry between.
nzucker
A littld worrying to see the GoA low/low heights over AK being shown on modeling the next couple of weeks. That could reduce the extent of the PAC warm pool.

nzucker
we could see some impressive gusts friday with a very strong low level jet and good mixingI thought the models had pushed the 960s low a bit further north making it less likely we'd see strong winds with the cold front. gravitylover
The fog is so thick here I can barely see the houses across the street. If they don't have an outside light on I wouldn't be able to see them at all.
bluewave
NYC already at +8.5 for the first 4 days of November. The warmth the next few days should put NYC very close to the warmest November 1-7 departures on record. It looks like the Nov 1-7 record for the 2000's so far is +9.6 in 2003. gravitylover
That fog was really something in some spots. Oddly it was thicker over hilltops and above the valleys. Usually it's valley bottoms and hollows where it would be densest but not today.
