Met1985
The way the trough is oriented this looks to be a primary norther mountains event. We may see some snow in the southern mountains but think the brunt of the moisture hits the northern mountains.
Hvward
NWF moisture looks good on radar. Had some real small flurries at my house in Candler when I left this morning. Canton has snow this morning apparently and roads in gorge are covered per 99.9 caller.

nchighcountrywx
Nice little dust up occurring across the NW NC High Country. Someone might be able to get about an inch of accumulation. Temperatures ranging from 12 degrees up top to around 22 degrees.
MikeGold
Nice to see it finally snowing on the mountain again and only about 11 degrees. Webcams confirm the first snow of the season has finally started on Mt. Lyn Lowry. http://www.wunderground.com/webcams/BuddynOreo/1/show.html http://www.resortcams.com/webcams/purchase-knob/ http://brpwebcams.org/cam/5/1 Beech Mountain looks great: http://www.resortcams.com/webcams/pinnacle-inn/ Snowshoe..yikes! http://www.resortcams.com/webcams/snowshoe-shavers-centre/ I think locally no more than 1" it fall from this event....and I think it quite likely that no more than a couple of inches will fall during the rest of the month with a couple of NW flow events. Maybe February things will turn around with some big storms moving up the coast?

FlatLander48
So even though it appears the weekend storm (Sunday the 10th) isn't gonna produce much in the way of snowfall, it does look like there will be snow at the end at least. now granted that's if it doesn't speed up anymore which tends to happen. But it's gonna be close. It could still be worth watching.

FlatLander48
Yeah still a lot to sort through. I wouldn't give up just yet for us. I mean, we're obviously gonna get snow at some point, I just don't see the right storm giving us a big one. I'm sure we'll get a few clippers, but everything from the gulf is way west or way east. nothing so far has really been close. But time will tell. McDowell_Weather
Guys I think we'll finish average/above for the season. We're just getting a late start. I think a nice big storm is right around the corner with possibly a few more to come. I know we're used to some NWF starting in late Oct go early Nov but I think we're getting ready to make up for it! #Funtimesawait
FlatLander48
Here's the thing. It might be around the corner but I pretty much guarantee we won't have a chance of a GOOD snow til FEB at the earliest.
WxBlue
Well, I saw my first snow chasing that mesoscale band in Eastern North Carolina yesterday. I'm so ready to back in Western NC after winter break is over, though!
