Can't believe that we have some of the coldest temps of the season and we're 24 hours away from a rain storm. Just a weird system but I guess it fits in with a weird winter

Is this not the pits, all this nice cold air and gone when the heaviest moisture arrives, just nothing to hold that cold H pressure in place long enough.  was hoping for south trends on the storm but we saw very little over the last few days.

looking at the radar from tenneessee looks like the moisture is headed right for Buncombe County and points west.

I've had light snow, moderate at times, all morning. When that blob hits it's going to pick up quite a bit. Never thought I would have about a half of inch by now. Still 4 hours before the warning starts.

About 3 inches in Boone and still coming down. I think the back end of the precip may be coming soon

I just went over two here. By the way radar looks, that might be it until tomorrow morning and then the warm air. Maybe another inch then rain. That would still be in the 2 - 5 range that the WSW stated. A good call at least for here.

From Chris Justus:

Latest 0Z (evening) NAM tracks low 30-50 miles further south compared to 12Z (this (morning) NAM. Also the models didn't show as much activity in northern Alabama that's moving through now. It could arrive after midnight. Likely won't amount to much since we are so dry but it will help moisten up our dew points which are around 2 degrees right now! These are things I'm watching as we "nowcast" this storm. If this trend continues we could be looking at an earlier start and therefore more moisture at the beginning while temps are cold. I'll keep you posted.

what a dud of a storm for Buncombe County, 6 on Monday morning and not a flake of snow and I thought we would at least get an inch out of this storm, started out 1-3 hell I'd take 1/2 inch now.  Saturday's surprise snow was a lot more than this.  why is it sometimes so cold and dry here where as up north you never hear about to dry to snow, they get a low pressure and as long as its cold it snows with no problem.  FRUSTRATED   :axe::cry:
