Radar really lighting up along and south of the US-378 corridor through the central midlands.  Places that have only seen around 2-2.5" so far today will start to add to that number in short order.

If that band decides to stay in that same area all night, I'll need to add the CSRA to the area of SC that I think would get 12+ of rain. It means business bigtime. Parts of Dorchester and Charleston counties may get 20 unless that band gets north of those 2 counties soon.

It is pouring here and I know I'm closing in on another inch  :D

Linville Falls this afternoon.  Pretty awe-inspiring.

I go to Ashville the 9-11th and am looking forward to checking off a few more falls on my list   :D    BUT first I have to go to hilton head/beaufort next week....if it's not underwater    :(

Incredible....and it's not even close to being over..scary.

Just now getting into the leading edge of the real heavy stuff. In fact, I Just heard a clap of thunder for the first time today. Lightning tracker shows several strikes the last few minutes to the south...only Other lightning is occurring near charleston so expect some really good rates shortly. Also, the wind has really picked up..gusting to 20mph now.

I can think of nothing worse than having the power go out in that situation.

lighting and thunder with very heavy rain is the local report.

5-8 inches of water..swamp.

brother is informing that canal has flowed into the yard.

kids crying...

damn...best of luck to them. I wish we could say it's likely to get better but certainly doesn't look like it.

Looking at the HRRR it doesn't stop, 10+" and counting. Only getting worse.

new nam is absurd too.  ..it just won't move.

They shut the power off here after Floyd to prevent more damage by having live wires and junctions go underwater.....

Rocky Branch Creek here in downtown Columbia is on the rise. Up a foot and a half in the last 20 minutes.  For those unfamiliar, this creek floods pretty quick as a result of run off from most of the downtown Columbia area.  Wouldn't be surprised to see a Flash Flood Warning for Rich/Lex Counties within an hour or so if these current rainfall rates continue.
