dryslot
Are we still calling this heavy rainfall a bust? MRMS_24hr.jpeg Some backyards might be left wanting, but overall I think this qualifies as widespread. Shows the jackpots quite well
HIPPYVALLEY
Green River this morning. That's what 5.5" of rain in 12 hours will do. The river was about a fifth that size the day before. I'll try to get more stuff up later.
wxeyeNH
4.15" here near Plymouth NH. Just drove over the Pemigewasset River coming down from Plymouth and Lincoln and it was very low even after all this rain. Lots of rocks showing and I would guess the river is running 50% of its normal flow. Was very surprised that it was not higher even considering the dry conditions going into the storm. dendrite
No wonder why Boston ASOS seems low.BOS is an AWPAG though...i.e. Weighing gauge.http://www.nws.noaa.gov/ops2/Surface/documents/AWPAG%20Altershield%20Final%20Report%2008-09%20v2.doc As for my Davis, I've never had it this far off. Prolonged heavy rains can have large errors though due to splash out and some lost during tips. Here's the Stratus gauge before I measured. eekuasepinniW
How can that be one inch higher than tipper? That's awful. Usually it's super accurate, mostly within .02" and many times it matches exact. This event just happened to feature everything that tippers hate.... heavy rates, wind, and duration. dendrite
Yeah I remember you saying that. It still seems low all the time. But that's another story. I'm blown away by that discrepancy from your gauges. That's really bad. Normally they're spot on with eachother with at most only a few hundredths difference. I'm honestly shocked. I thought maybe I had a bad reed switch going in my tipper, but Eek's discrepancy makes me think otherwise.I need Chris or Ek to hook me up with a weighing gauge like Salisbury has. Too bad I live so close to the COOP...if I was in Coos they'd probably give me anything I wanted.
