Animal
Not much rain in the far NW burbs with this event. 12 Z GFS put the kabash on it with rain totals. 12 NAM looks like a monsoon. Time will tell, but the radar looks umimpressive at the moment. Best.
tdp146
Loudest thunder I've heard in years at Massapequa. Same in seaford. I'm sure we heard someone the same stikes. It was a couple of bolts where the flash and bang were so close together I was looking out the window to check if it hit anything in sight. Brian5671
based on current radar, the 12z RGEM looks to bust horribly. Have to wonder if that was a burp run given the consistency of its prior runs and likelihood that most areas end up doing well.
IsentropicLift
Kudos to the 12z ECMWF for nailing this event, is shows the large slug in E PA clobbering the entire area tonight. 1-2" widespread with locally higher amounts.

Have to wonder if that was a burp run given the consistency of its prior runs and likelihood that most areas end up doing well. But we constantly get told about how wonderful the RGEM is? It may have been on a hot streak for awhile but it has the same problems as every other model.

It may have been on a hot streak for awhile but it has the same problems as every other model. given the convective nature of the event, doesn't surprise me. Its run going back 36-48 hrs consistently showed us all getting 2-4 inches and in the end, that may have been the right idea. So I'll toss the 12z and look at the 6 prior runs and say it was spot on.
