That was pretty amazing to see happen. We were on the beach for a volleyball tournament and that first cell came onshore and it poured. Basically tropical storm conditions for 25 mins. I'm watching the radar on my Phone (we are under a giant tent on the beach at this point) and I can see the back edge of the heavy stuff about to pass over us but also noticed the rotation. I look up and sure enough there is a small wall cloud a mile off shore. And within seconds it drops the spout. Didn't last more than a few minutes but you don't get to watch a water spout develop everyday. Mark that down as the weather highlight of my summer.

Tdp146...Great Shot! What Blvd beach in LB were you on when you snapped that?

Did any circulation remain at the surface when it came ashore?

Laurelton. Michell onneil volleyball tourney. There was still some rotation as it hit the shore but couldn't really tell if it was on the ground at that point. My guess would be no.

That's a great catch. All my time in Long Beach I only got to see the remnant meso from the August 2007 Brooklyn tornado.

There was no lowering to the clouds left by the time in came over, but the rotation in the clouds was very distinct.

Nearly three years to the date was the September 2012 Far Rockaway tornado. We can always get surprises when

the SST's south of Long Island reach the mid 70's and there is rotation.

I was at the same annual volleyball tournament for that far rockaway tornado three years ago.

Wow looked totally different coming ashore on OKX radar.

Yeah didn't look impressive at all on OKX.

TJFK was sampling that thing at about 500 ft AGL and actually had about 30 knots of rotational velocity shortly after moving inland. I'm honestly surprised it didn't stay on the ground for a little bit after reaching the beach.
