Treckasec
Already seeing a couple trees changing colors here. Mornings are also cooler, but afternoons are still summery.
JTA66
I've noticed some leafs have changed and already fallen, but I think that has more to do with the dryness than change of seasons at this point ... at least imby. I like warm Sept/Oct days, but at least cool off at night!

RedSky
We have crossed into uber dry territory. Deep into the extended looks to continue it. I know somebody that bought a new property that had large trees planted last fall is losing a third of them.

Next update will probably have a lot more area in drought.

There is no doubt that this map is under done the dry conditions are really taking off now and really there is no '"real" rain in sight.... the 0z GFS last night showed some hope but it was only one run of 2-4" on Sept. 11th followed by a crazy left hand turning coastal low... iceman56
Black walnuts and tulip poplars start dropping leaves about now with/without dryness. Ivy vines are turning red. Normal highs getting ready to drop into the 70's.

RedSky
Might be the sparsest crop of black walnuts this year. Let's hope it doesn't portend the opposite weather this winter of the last couple years which were quite heavy. Bee nests have been plentiful, caught a lucky break this week when I found the newest nest of yellow jackets had been dug up and eaten by an animal * sucker had to be hungry for that ouch*

Sounds like something only a bear can handle. One of the most dangerous things about hiking the AT is yellowjackets, since bears routinely dig up their nests. The wasps confuse humans with bears and sting hikers even without being provoked.

Had a bear go through the trashcan early in the summer but usually when one is in the area it makes the Bucks news feed. A skunk is another possibility. BucksCO_PA
Had a bear go through the trashcan early in the summer but usually when one is in the area it makes the Bucks news feed. A skunk is another possibility. Came home early one morning, 1:30am, & a skunk was devouring a mature yellow jacket nest at my previous address. I mean that nest was cleaned out, nothing left but a hole in the ground.

KamuSnow
The hole was a small one which leads me to believe a skunk. Never knew anything ate their nests until this happened. We had a similar experience last year, with a nest under a table on the porch. We were batting around different ideas for moving the nest, and then one morning it was spread all over the yard. There is a skunk who makes the rounds here semi-regularly, and that is something that skunks will do, we found out. Must be something to see! We have one that has a boatload of walnuts this year and did 2 years ago as well, but last year had hardly any. I know for sure that Hickory trees do this. Birds~69
Kathy Orr joins Fox29 starting tonight. Are all TV Mets/News personalities "retreads" at a different station (in the same area) every couple years? Like that (for the most part) will make a different in ratings? Lol....no.
