mackerel_sky
Cut the grass and cleaned up some in the yard today. Might have to cut it one more time this year and be done until spring. Then it's going to be getting up all the leaves. Put out the fall flags. Can't wait for fall to get here in full swing in October, one of the best months in NC.Did the same today. Basically like cutting a dusty hay! October is a great month! If I knew my biggest snow of the year was going to basically be in October, I would have taken more time to enjoy it ! Solak
Useless trivia (unless you're visiting us during a rain shower)... It takes .02" to start forming a puddle in the dip in the road in front of the house. .25", which we just had, fills a 28# plastic Tidy Cats litter container to within 3" of the top when the container is placed to catch the runoff from the side porch roof. mackerel_sky
Lol that was the only snow you got last year? That matches my biggest other snow, that was another dusting in February , on a sneaky little snow event on a Tuesday or something, the other " storms" gave me 1-2 inches of sleet and freezing rain! So yes, two trace snow events, one on Halloween and one in Feb, for a grand total of a tr of snow last year! About 5 miles to my N, they had 4-5 inches on the grass on the Halloween snow, it came down that hard and heavy!
Snow dog
Nice of Clemson to pick such a powerhouse opponent on their opening day!!?? Guess atleast they'll get one win! No, at least one more win at the end of the year!

LithiaWx
Did my first fantasy draft last night. Le'von bell fell to me at pick 7 in a 12 team ppr. I ended up with Eddie Lacy as my first pick. I had Adrian Peterson last season as the number one pick. Lacy can't be worse than my pick last year. I got Lacy as the 6th pick.

LithiaWx
I have the 3rd pick in a high dollar league tomorrow, I'm picking lacy. Ours was a friendly ten bucks but I've played in some in the past that were 100 dollar entry leagues. It definitely makes the stakes a lot more exciting lol... jshetley
Hopefully. Seriously though, I think it'll be some combination of 2002-2003, 1986-1987, and 1997-1998. Some kind of a blend of those 3 winters. I'm not sure we ever get another winter like 2011-2012.
Solak
Our son and family brought us cheese steak subs and cheesecake. Granddaughter and her mom did crafts all afternoon. Lynne walked them out to their car, assisted by her rollator and our newish 55' long access ramp. 2 1/2 years ago, she was unable to walk at all. So yeah... it was a good day

Solak
Thanks, buckeyefan1! I really wish I could talk (type) more about all that's been going on, but because of pending legal action, the lawyer has asked me to refrain. Really makes it difficult - having to keep it all bottled up.
Solak
Heat pump decided to stop working. ugh Hate that for ya! We know we're on borrowed time on our system - it's 16 years old with minimal needed parts replacement. Going to get estimates and bite the bullet before the cold weather gets locked in. Going to get estimates and bite the bullet before the cold weather gets locked in. I'm in the exact predicament (17 years). Problem; it's the old freon system so it's going to cost a bundle to get a new one. I have been reading about the ductless systems that are much cheaper; but they're not as inconspicuous. Going to get estimates and bite the bullet before the cold weather gets locked in. Mine is only 4 years old. I did a complete system change in 2011 from freon to the new stuff. Still under warranty so I'm hoping to come out OK. Expecting "the man" at any time.

I have been reading about the ductless systems that are much cheaper; but they're not as inconspicuous. There's definitely a sweet spot coming in a month or so. We had to replace our AC, it was falling apart and had been undersized to begin with. I waited and got a pretty good deal in late March, when the furnace calls had stopped coming and the AC calls hadn't started yet, and they were hungry for work. Beat that first freeze and you should be able to save a bit, at least, or wait until mid spring if possible. Saved some money with an Angie's List discount as well. I got 5 estimates, and the company we went with was about median in price after the discounts, but reputable and the unit is fantastic. Best summer we've ever had in this house, and the AC portion of my electric bill is 50% less than last year. (Not that the power savings is going to pay for the unit very fast, but I'm not sure you can put a price on interior comfort when you live in the deep south in summer.)
