Latest Guidance continues to show 850 temps 16c(+) Tue/Wed with record heat possible  and perhaps the hottest maxes since 2013.  Overall warm to hot Labor day through Thu (9/10). Fri (9/11) transition from heat with a trough  moving through next weekend.  Still remains to be seen amount of cool/rain.  Southerly flow may develop for a day or so.  Beyond there heights look to com up by mid month especially along the coast as trough establishes over the upper Plains/MW.

9/5 - 9/6: Onshore flow,  California weather.  Warming by Sun afternoon

Labor day - 9/10 : Warm to Hot Peaking Tue (9/8) / Wed (9/9).  Highest Max of season?

9/11 - 9/12 :  Cooler but could see humid southerly flow

9/13 - 9/15 :   Cooler (80s streak in joepardy) below normal possible day or two?

9/16 - beyond :  Warmer pattern returns ridging along the EC.

Overnight guidance backed off a bit on the extent of the trough and cool into the GL and subsequently moving through our area nect weekend 9/12 - 9/13.  Overall next week to 10 days continues to look to progress as above.  Have to watch southerly flow next weekend and chance for rain Sat/Sun and chance to break the 80s streak.  Loner range continues to show heights rise on the WC and resist troughing along the EC with trough establishing in the midsection GL.

Write up about this summer record warmth despite lack of extreme heat. Covering mid atlantic/ northeast  I 95 corridor

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2015/09/04/warm-days-and-nights-are-near-record-levels-in-d-c-and-across-the-northeast/

Good read I assume Ian is referencing official NYC records which switched to the park after the 59 straight days at the park in 1944 vs the Battery (old reporting station)??

down to 66 here.

still not the greatest sleeping weather, unless its very windy it takes a while for cool air to penetrate these rows of houses/bldgs

74 now.

80 degree streak gets tied for 1st today

Ties Labor day and goes down in a blowtorch on Tuesday.  Although official NWS records indicate the record broken already because the park wasnt the official reporting site in 1944.

The EPS also shows the ridge rebuilding day 11-15 pretty much in the same position that it has been locked into since May.

Yikes.

That ridge has also boosted the SST's with the ocean along the South Shore still in the mid 70's.

If we can just get the convection this week far to track enough east over Long Island, then it should

hold together very well with such warm SST's.

NWS  crowned the record broken at 42. They didn't

count 1944 for whatever reason, so he is going off of what NWS said. A few days ago they took it back at put 1944 as valid again.  Of course now no matter how you look at it 2015 will hold the record.

The park is at 86, but most areas of the city are cooler. My closest station is still at 79. The park might be having a warm bias.

that spot doesn't have good air circulation. so maybe the usual cold bubble is now a warm bubble thanks to the trees not evapotranspirating

Today is the 59th consecutive day on which the temperature reached 80° or above in Central Park. That ties Central Park's record of 59 days, which was previously set in 1944. For technical reasons, the current streak has already broken New York City's record, as records were previously maintained at Battery Park.

Thanks, Don..  I had missed Aug 31 and today is 59
