homedis
If the cell maintains strength, anyone in Chicago & possibly a little north should get slammed.

cyclone77
Temp jumped up about 5 degrees to 81 a short while ago as that warmth to the south advected in. Widespread Cu has moved in as well.
wisconsinwx
It's not as though NW and NC Illinois haven't seen enough storms this summer. I'll bet if you pick any random spot, they've probably seen twice as many t'storms as I've seen (and much of Chicagoland) this summer. They've been a hotspot for sure. cyclone77
Storms blowing up all over the place north and west of here. Nice cell near DVN. May go try to get some lightning shots.
Gilbertfly
As expected as it was moving into worked over air from earlier storms That's why I thought it would roll down the gradient this way since we didn't get a drop...but the canapy was quite sprawling from the first line QC radar looks quite nice
hawkeye_wx
For about the 20th time this year, morning convection held on longer than expected and put the kibosh on our expected evening complex. Fortunately, I was in a good spot and picked up an inch of rain from the earlier batch. Tomorrow is still a bit up in the air. Some models nail us with a couple inches of rain while some keep most of it south.

CanadianGuy
The past few days have featured extraordinary temperature swings IMBY, with mornings feeling autumn like and afternoons feeling hot and muggy.. Tis the season. Sadly, it looks like tomorrow this will all come to an end.. at least for a few days. Overall pattern looks favorable for more warmth relative to av in the next two weeks, though. CanadianGuy
Storms over NE Illinois forming a line. Looking pretty good. Cloudy skies and crapvection will limit sunshine and heating tomorrow IMBY, so no more 80s Canada side, and probably for SEMI too, at least until next week... wisconsinwx
We're getting thunder in this moderate to heavy rain shield, but it still is weird that the deep convection keeps running into a wall in Waukesha County. It's not like we're more worked over than the rest of Southern Wisconsin, the winds are still offshore as well. Can anyone supply a reason? homedis
Pouring like crazy here in Northbrook. We got a little over an inch from the storms earlier and now its thundering and pouring. Going to be an interesting night for sure.

Chitown Storm
I just realized... some of the southern portions of the Chicago area still may be dry! Anyone on here have no rain or less than .1"? I'm in Naperville for a few days for work. It poured for about 5 minutes around 5pm, and really hasn't done more than sprinkle since. Definitely missed almost all of the rain so far.

cyclone77
Man this makes my work lightning shots look like child's play. This is really an incredible shot. Thanks man. Been a real fun evening. Have had continuous thunder since about 7pm. Quite the light show tonight, although most of it has been cloud to cloud. Heaviest rains have stayed to the northwest so far, as we've only picked up another 0.04" since early eve.

tuanis
Gotta say, these are some incredibly prolific downpours up here. The lightning earlier was impressive, but the rain on my house sounds like a train going by. The totals should be significant when things finally let up.
