Kay
Despite the poor organization, the reconnaissance plane currently in Erika was able to measure 700 mb flight-level winds of 59 kt well to the southeast of the alleged center. Ha, have they been lawyered? After all the alleged center has not been charged with any crimes...

BTRWx
It's remarkable how significant recon data can be. The very first model with the data allowed for an almost immediate consensus in the models. Who's ready for a heat wave? lol
84 Hour NAM
Erika is actually pretty funny. On her current heading, she is going to pass directly over Pico Duarte, the highest peak in Hispaniola. Couldn't have taken a worse track.

H2O
Maybe the only saving grace is that this should be a relatively quick pass over Hispaniola. Grasping for straws here. you know those scenes in the TV show ER where the patient has died and they have already done th paddles 12 times WITH the adrenaline shot? Don't be that guy who thinks more chest compressions will save the patient

Just pulling a Bob.. NHC has been busier than they have in years for the Atlantic for a non-storm and FL did the State of Emergency - She is costing a lot of money for not much... mappy
nothing would shock me with this system -- going due west south of the islands into the gulf... really would just be icing on the cake. every option is possible at this point. mappy
It's really incredible how impossible this storm has been to predict for the U.S.. Real tragedy for some of the islands though, proving once again that you should always take a storm seriously. kind of crazy how all those warnings in the bahamas are going to go unfounded... they won't even see clouds from Erika. hosj III
Hope Mexico is preparing. Anyway, once this is over with hopefully there can be some analysis of what went wrong. Do the models usually have an awful job modeling the behavior of weak systems? Or is it the interaction with land that so radically altered its path?
