tamarack
Sumac along Route 27 north of Belgrade is quite colorful - where DOT applied herbicide. Other than that, only color is on obviously stressed trees, plus the white birch at the head of our driveway, which always starts turning about this time and sheds leaves throughout September. This is probably my best one from last fall: Your pictures are fantastic. Have you ever considered selling them (unless of course you are already doing that)? They always have great color and depth to them.

powderfreak
I do hope to show at some point soon. I've got a couple friends that show at area farmers markets and stuff like that. Doing it in tourist towns like Stowe, Waitsfield/Warren, Woodstock, Ludlow, etc or say Richmond, Hinesburgh, where there's a good market for arts...you'll clean up. I know friends can grab a few thousand dollars from a good day at a farmers market if they hit the right target consumers.

tamarack
Swamp maples in the bogs west of Plymouth NH are showing hints of color. Swamp maples only stay green for about two months around here, basically June and July; they're all well-colored at present.

LongBeachSurfFreak
You guys probably don't have them up there but black gum down here changes super early. Mid September and they start to show some red. After that is green ash which turns yellow an drops quickly early October

After that is green ash which turns yellow an drops quickly early October We have very widely scattered black gum almost as far north as Augusta, usually found in wet areas which, as with the red maples, advances their color schedule. They (black gum) do have a pretty crimson/burgundy fall show. The ash family, at least those in the East (white, green, brown), tends to be last grown and first fallen for leaves.
