WEATHER53
Dca up to its Magic, 4-11 degrees warmer than others including +11 on Andrews just 8 miles away and 4 on "bigger body of water" Annapolis and it sure is a dry place with its rh in the 50's and others it the 80's its some astounding heat island that's mistly water and vegetation which is able to overcome cubic tons of atmosphere that can cool everyone else off

And with the standard lapse rate the elevation should amount to 1.5 degrees difference
Inverted_Trough
I would think the CWG station, located on a rooftop downtown, would be consistently a few degrees warmer than DCA, especially at night. The fact that it mirrors DCA closely doesn't support the 'accuracy' of DCA; if anything, it argues the opposite. In any case, over the past couple weeks DCA has been within 1 degree of IAD, so it appears they read this board and recalibrated their sensor or the transient microclimate that developed in July, now went away. This will be most interesting on a snow covered cold night will the CWG measurements be unable to radiate out the way DCa often does
